Spent too much time in Scotland playing against pathetic defences! Now he has to up his game again and it might take time.
There is a chance he will not be the player he once was when with Wolves.

He's not up to Championship speed that's for sure. He's way off the pace mentally if not over the ground, and his time could be running out. His goal at West Ham may have caused a few rose tinted glasses to be donned.

Malky will need to change things much earlier than yesterday, or he'll slip into the DJ mould of leaving it too late. Gestede (or Mason) should have replaced him half an hour earlier.

I may be in the minority but I thought he did a lot of good work. Also thought he was better than Earnie who was given man of the match.

The Earnie/Miller partnership doesnt work though.

He is far from rubbish. Eddie Johnson was rubbish.

Won the free kick for our first goal, and was integral to the setup of the second. Ran loads of good channels, kept at their defenders all game, worked his socks off.

He can be a little untidy at times but his overall work was good imo and as I've said above was key to us winning the match.

I agree but i don't think we have a better option right now, it was better than it has been yesterday. If we can put more balls into Miller he actually has a chance of holding up/linking play (rather than Taylor lumping it 50 yrds up the field not within 30 yrds of the strikers) then they may have a future as a partnership.

I'd hate to see the fans get on Millers back he can be very important for us this year.

Nobody's getting on Miller's back - at least not me anyway, I'm just calling it as I see it.

If he was "key to us winning this match", are you saying we would have lost it without him?

Working his socks off off the ball has never been an issue, but on the ball his speed of thought and layoffs are tardy to say the least. He requires too much time and loses possession or makes a bum pass all too often.

He is no target man and has never been cast in that mould - he and Earnie are too similar.

If you can answer that then you're a better man than me. I have no way of telling what would have happened had someone else had the shirt.
What I do know is he was integral to both goals and I find it a bit much that he's written off when he's contributed to the win with 2 significant moments. Keogh had work rate and nothing else, Miller has work rate and makes things happen. He's not Prem class but in this league what he does could be very effective this season.

He may not be a 'target man' but anyone who can lead the line on their own at international level can hold the ball up and link play if the service to them is right.

I can't take to him as a player. He can't help his size, but there's no physical aspect to his game. And why Marshall hoofs the ball to Earnie & Miller I'll never know, or why MM puts up with it for that matter ?

I just thought he had a bad day yesterday, though I think that he was a good buy and will score quite a few goals this season.

It will take time for this team to get to their best all we can hope is that we keep picking up points as we get better, how many of the 14 players used yesterday were playing regular for Cardiff last season ?

    It will take time.

He works his socks off, and is always in the oppositions face, and makes a bloody nuisance of himself, he must be a nightmare to play against, OK maybe he is not up to speed at championship level, but he is a proven goalscorer and given time IMO he will come good, a bit more worried about a lack of pace in central defence than attack TBH, perhaps Turner might be the answer, only time will tell, with the team in transition and being rebuilt basically from scratch and needing time to gell, well top six is far from bad, and I would have taken it at the start of the season...................calm down <ok>

Hmm, when it was mentioned we were after Miller I questioned it. I am giving the guy a chance and some of the folk who questioned my opinion are now saying he's rubbish or not up to it! How many games have we played? Get a grip lads and give the guy a break. I haven't seen many games due to my location but from what I've seen on tv and iplayer there's more wrong with the tactic of the long ball than the player.

I don't think he did a bad job yesterday. His performance in the second half was much improved as he started to influence the game. Given time he could be a very good player for us.

If we had a choice I wanted Goodwillie but Miller is a good player. He's playing in a new role and, well.....would you rather have someone like Eddie Johnson, Kelvin Etuhu or Warren Feeney upfront. Or maybe Ndungu Nsungu....... Not having a dig here but when people say he runs his socks off and he can be an annoying player to play against, well I could do that but I'd still be a **** footballer lol.

We have lost such games in the past with supposedly better quality players, Miller is not an issue at the moment, the partnership is very questionable though.
Earnie is a greedy player and will get his fair share of goals if allowed to play enough this season.
Miller is the one suffering from the partnership more than Earnie, it is he who needs the target man to flick on for him if he is to start looking the part.
Nothing wrong with his work ethics either, seems the whole team need some more time to get it running smoothly,
But they are all working to the best of their ability at this time and that makes me happy.
Loan signings will be interesting, expect this partnership to dissolve in the near future.

Miller tends to make himself available in the area which means getting there every time the ball is upfield which means he must be working hard to do that. Now as for many strikers he has not scored but make no mistake he can and will.

We have two strikers who can score 20 goals.

Chopra and Bothroyd went ages without scoring and so do prem strikers.

Earnshaw is selfish but that`s why he scores.

The supply must come from midfield and with Gunarrson and Kiss now fit we should be able to see a big improvement in supply to Miller.

Have seen this similar train of thought about Turner bringing pace to the defence on elsewhere. Apparently, that will not happen. He is not 'that' player.

As the season goes on I think we'll see Miller OR Earnie. That will only happen when MM feels Gustede is ready or we get a loan (not lone) target man. We know it's a squad game and we need the right balance. Not sure we've got the players to have a properly ballanced team at the moment, though it looks close. At the moment I'm slightly more worried about the balance of the midfield than the strikers. For all the hard work, do Cowie and Conway provide the type of supply Earnie and Miller need. Are they too similar? Again, a loanee or two together with a bit more time on the training paddock before we see the best of the team. As said above, 6th, not a bad place to be, knowing there is more to come.
