Kenny could return for Man Utd clash QPR goalkeeper Paddy Kenny could return for his teamâs game against Manchester United next weekend. Rangers initially feared he would require surgery and be sidelined for up to two months, but a recent follow-up scan showed his injury was healing quickly. And after another week of intensive treatment, Kenny has returned to light training and is hoping to practise with the rest of the squad on Tuesday. âIâll hopefully be fit and available for the United game.â Doctors struggled to diagnose the exact nature of the problem, which was causing Kenny pain in his hip and upper hamstring. Bizarrely, the injury seems to have been triggered when Kenny landed awkwardly on the drawstrings at the bottom of his training top while diving to make a save several weeks ago. âI had a scan and it showed fluid in the hip and there was also a tear in my glute muscle,â Kenny told West London Sport. âIn the last week or so though itâs felt a lot better. The swelling has gone down and it seems to be healing. Neil Warnock has received good news on Kennyâs condition âIâve spent a lot of the last week in an oxygen chamber and it seems to have worked. Iâve done a bit of light training and hopefully on Tuesday Iâll be able to make more progress. âAs long as everything goes well, Iâll hopefully be fit and available for the United game.â The 33-year-old played through the pain barrier in Rangersâ recent win at Stoke because second-choice stopper Brian Murphy is currently out with a knee problem. Despite a painkilling injection, Kenny was subsequently unable to play against Norwich and the Premier League refused QPR permission to sign another keeper on loan. âI had to play at Stoke but then the problem really came to a head,â Kenny added. âFingers crossed though next week will go well and Iâll be ready for the United match. I really hope so.â Related stories: Kennyâs improvement gives Râs hope QPR discuss new deal for keeper Kenny Follow West London Sport on Twitter 2 of 2 QPR are cautiously optimistic that goalkeeper Paddy Kenny will return to action sooner than was first expected. Kennyâs condition appears to have improved significantly in the last few days and Rangers are hoping a follow-up scan next week will show his injury is healing fast. The club are yet to establish the exact nature of the problem that has been causing Kenny pain in his side and upper hamstring. Warnock is hoping for good news on Kenny next week. An initial scan suggested he could be sidelined for up to two months, but further tests may well bring better news. âWe were told six to eight weeks and possibly an operation â thatâs how bad it was originally,â said manager Neil Warnock. âBut Paddy felt good on Thursday, so you just donât know. Itâs a muscle nobodyâs ever heard of thatâs been affected. Itâs an unusual injury. âWhat we have to do now is probably scan it again next week to see what the differences in the scans are. âThatâs the way theyâll judge it, because he feels good at the moment. Heâs been really bright.â Follow West London Sport on Twitter iReader http://www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/kenny-could-return-for-man-utd-clash/
