Defender leaves the club by mutual consent Bristol Rovers wish to announce that Garry Kenneth has today left the club by mutual consent. The defender’s contract was cancelled this morning and will take immediate effect. Chairman Nick Higgs said: “Unfortunately things have not worked out with Garry, but the club would like to wish him well for the future. “We hope his injury problems have now cleared up, and that he can go on to resurrect his career elsewhere.” Garry signed a three year deal with Rovers in August 2012. After overcoming hamstring and thigh injuries Garry made his Rovers debut against Plymouth Argyle on 18th September 2012. Garry scored his first goal for the club in the 3-1 win against Northampton on 6th October. However he sustained a cruciate knee ligament injury when playing against Plymouth Argyle, on New Year's Day, and missed the rest of last season.
In a way a shame, 'cos at his best and fittest I reckon he could have been really good for us. But too much 'water under the bridge'; and as a high earner let's use any savings to get that striker/winger we desperately need!
im delighted about this. its not sat well with me with what has happened this season. im glad he is gone and this should allow some new signings that we need. like a striker and winger.
