Rumors swirling online that Chelsea have said we can sign him for £18m in January. TBH they are just people talking rubbish online but I like the idea as he's by far our best winger and free's up a domestic loan option as well giving Rafa a bit more wiggle room £18m would be around the right price for the lad but do you think fatty would sanction it?
Do we have first option? Either way he'll put in a good shift over the next 6 months knowing he's in the shop window,so a win win for us. Scrap that just noticed the January bit,no way would Ashley spent £18m in January unless he sells,Lacelles maybe.Just to be clear we have him for the whole season anyway?
No way this will happen. Actually break our laughable transfer record. even the mackems , have a higher record transfer than us. sums up that FCB all over
Ashley only spends money when he has to, hence Rafa only got the money when we in the Championship, as it pretty much guaranteed us going back up and Ashley getting the TV money again. If the current upturn continues and we're looking safe in Jan, I can't see it happening, if we're in trouble, Rafa will see him as saleable asset in the hope we can get big bucks for him when we go down, and may do the deal.
Cos Ashley seems to have a talent for selling old rope at ridiculously inflated prices - £30m for Sissoko, £35m for Carroll etc
Worth every penny (in today's market anyway) and he would be a terrific signing for a club like us. Still developing and will get better and better now he is playing first team football. Whether we would spend that is another thing altogether. Plus it would swallow up any budget and mean no new signings (if there are to be any). I like him though, he is a very talented lad.
He is on loan for the full season and presumably we have paid a fee for that. It would be stupid to sign him early particularly when we could be flirting with relegation and may not want him by end of season. There is talk that Chelsea are going to be handed a two year transfer ban. I dont know whether this stops them selling players but they may be trying to raise money to have a splurge in January before/in case ban kicks in.
He’s with us all season so the far man won’t spend big in Jan. he’ll see if we stay up and then not spend big in July.
I’d rather we spent 18m and signed Loftus-Cheek Not that keen on Kennedy - still fuming at that penalty miss against Cardiff tbh
This ..................... we have him for the rest of the season, so Ashley will just gamble that we stop up and see what Rafa is going to do ..................... and if we did spend £18m on Kenedy that is almost certainly all of the January budget blown ................... on a player that we already have playing for us.
To be fair to the owner, would you really want to shell out 18m when you are still at risk of relegation and your manager who wants the player could be jumping ship? Probably not. It seems a no brainer because we know he will have value but I doubt someone opening the purse strings would see it that way.
ashley will, never pay 18 mil on one player bud. would never happen m8 He thinks we still, in the 1990 s on transfer fees.. fooking disgusting and a piss take .
We have him on loan until the end of the season. We aren't getting him at some ridiculous knock down price. Ashley holds the purse strings. No, we won't be buying him in January 2019.
To be fair mate I see it from both angles. The 17m we paid for Owen was way above the market at the time. We were one of the few idiots paying that kind of money. Still though it is about time we broke it. Bournemouth paid 25m for Lerna but then they've been established for a few years. The record signing of Huddersfield is about 16-17.5m and Brighton is about 17m. The reality is somewhat sobering for the fans. The transfer record is silly stick for the fans to use in reality. We operate to similar levels to the other relegation candidates. I think its disappointing that is our level. Our overall transfer spend is hugely disappointing. The fans should focus on that rather than silly gimmicks like transfer records. We've paid decent enough fees in recent years for Muto, Murphy, Lejeune, Gayle, Ritchie, Mitrovic, Gini, Mbemba, Shelvey, Townsend, Thauvin. I'd probably question more the way in which the money is spent. Completely uncoordinated.
