    Anybody going?
Our new interest is making his career debut there in the median auction 2yo race.

His name is BUZZ LIGHTYERE (sorry about the name and the spelling) and he is a lovely bay colt by Royal Applause out of a mare called Lady Gloria. She was pretty decent winning six times for James Given including two Group Three's, The Princess Elizabeth Stakes and the Select Stakes. She won twice on the all weather which augurs well for his campaign this winter.
He is a smashing colt and has really taken everything in his stride since joining the yard around two months ago. He has done stalls work like a dream and works really nicely. He still has plenty of furnishing to do but he should be half decent and give us a lot of fun while Squire is off having his holiday.
As with Squire there are ten of us involved, three from this forum, a long term friend of mine having his first dabble and a few from the Squire syndicate.
We have only been able to do this as it is a lease deal. We have him until 31st December 2016. He has been qualified for sales races and they could have let him go for 45,000 so we are pretty lucky to have been able to do a deal like this.
I/We hope you enjoy cheering him on as you have our other interests and if any of you are at Kempton on Wednesday evening I would be delighted to meet you.
Fingers crossed he proves to be worth following!

If I were over in England I would definitely make the trip. Since my (very ill) mother-in-law died last year I'm not over so often. I might be over around Crufts time. Hopefully that might fit in with an engagement. Best of luck Wednesday stick (who are the other forum members?). Squire has been a dream to own and I hope this one gives you as much fun.

He sounds like an exciting prospect to be involved with Stick, fingers crossed he can win you guys some races over the winter. The name is pretty cool too.

Just out of interest how are you expecting him to run on Wednesday? Can you see him being a threat, or are you looking at the race as more of an introduction for him

If I said we didn't have a clue that would be close to the truth. He still has a lot of strengthening up to do. The dam was third on debut so that is a positive and we have been extraordinarily lucky with the ballot. If the race splits we will only have two horses of any real note to beat, Soldier In Action and Athlon. If those two didn't show up things would be really interesting.
Michael doesn't have a good record with 2yo's so any sentimental stakes should be minimal. That said he really could be anything and his preparation has been meticulous, even including a trip to Kempton for a racecourse gallop!

Best of luck Stick - if he turns out half as willing as Squire I have no doubt he will find himself in the winners enclosure before too long.

    Do you have any pics?

Very nice looking young horse stick, still plenty of room to fill out but I will say he looks well enough to run as he is certainly not carrying much weight so MA has clearly managed to get some decent enough work into him for his first run.

The very best of luck Stick, may he remain healthy first and foremost, and hopefully provide you and your group some fun as well. I will look forward to following his progress.

Got to say Buzz Lightyere...what a lovely name for an unraced 2YO. He looks a most impressive beast and all the best with him, old boy.

In other ownership news I see, Stick, that your chum, Charlie Longsdon, now has Royal patronage as The Queen has sent him a 3YO filly called Sports Day – I say, what a lovely name for a filly by the way. I’m sure this arrangement was engineered by Mr Henderson, the forum’s favourite trainer, who is a close pal of both parties. I’m sure his boast of ‘I taught him all he knows’ was enough to swing it with Her Majesty. I would suggest though, old boy, that should your paths cross at Hull Farm, in the interests of national security, you refrain from patting this one on the rump.

You and the team certainly have the right sire Stick. Hopefully Buzz might be precocious enough to be there abouts.

Thanks for the heads up Barney, I shall be sure to keep my grubby peasant paws firmly in my pockets. I don't suppose he needed the Henderson seal of approval Barney as Charlie himself isn't far removed from being blue blooded. Indeed his Godmother is Royalty!

I see there is a L Morris on two horses, one being Buzz (currently quoted at 20/1). Is he going to have his work cut out or are there 2 jockeys named L Morris?
