http://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/latest-news/kelly-youngster-is-a-nuisance Looks like Sterling has a fan within the club. Looking forward to seeing more of him this season. Martin Kelly admits Raheem Sterling is a real nuisance to mark in training - and predicts a bright future for the winger as long as he continues to work hard at his game. Sterling has been one of the standout performers for the U18s and reserves for the last two seasons and earned a first-team debut as a substitute against Wigan last term. The first real glimpse of his potential for the senior side came in Sunday's friendly against Bayer Leverkusen, where he rounded two defenders before curling a beautiful strike into the bottom corner. Manager Brendan Rodgers was keen to stress after the game that Sterling still had 'an awful lot to learn' - but Kelly is a fan. "He's a nuisance to mark in training and he showed everyone (on Sunday) what he is capable of," said the defender. "I wouldn't like to mark him. He's fantastic and he helps us as full-backs improve our game because he is a modern day winger. "He's doing well in the first team at the moment and I think opportunities will come his way. If he keeps working hard and keeps his feet on the ground he will get that opportunity." Meanwhile, Kelly has spoken of his excitement at the start of a new season - especially in light of the type of football Rodgers is asking the team to play. "We have a good break at the end of each season and even when you have your down time with your family and stuff you are still thinking about football and when it's time to get back to it," said the 22-year-old. "That's our lives, it's what we love and we are looking forward to the start of the season as much as the fans are. "Anyone who saw our game at Anfield the other night or seen us in training will see that we are really sharp at the minute. "I thought some of the football we played against Gomel in the Europa League was fantastic and hopefully we will put on some great performances for the fans here."
I know all this talk about Tello, A Johnson and Walcott is exciting. But sometimes I think we get caught up in it and forget that Sterling can become a very important player for us this season.
Raheem is very raw and is 12 months away from being a first team regular. He's going to get games thats for sure, there is the Europa league, the League cup and the early rounds of the FA Cup. However the talent is there, although he's got to learn to mix things up a bit to prevent himself being labelled a one trick pony. This comes with experience.
Re: Tello. According to SSN, Ian Ayre has been in Barcelona and Madrid attempting to negotiate deals for both Christian Tello and Nuri Sahin. Liverpool are currently the front runners to sign both on loan.
Hence I don't see the point in Walcott...the other two maybe but why push RS down the pecking order too far #stopgettingcaughtup
He did play well at the weekend, and his goal was superb. However the next test is to do that consistently.
If we get Tello would be nice for Sterling/Suso to go out on loan somewhere and hope it benefits them in the same way it did Shelvey. He's looked twice the player he did before we went away for a few months.
I totally agree. Shelvey just needs to improve his tackling. He's a too enthusiastic. A loan move for both would be beneficial.
If we loan out, send suso to Wigan, Martinez would be great for him, keep a good spanish line there for him as well. Sterling could be swans to maybe help ease some things over, not sure who else really that plays close to what we want from the bottom half. Maybe championship with Blackpool to toughen him up?
I'm a fan. He gives us pace from the wings which we have lacked for about 300 years now! I expect him to get game time, or mayve on loan to someone like Fulham for a while. Next year I expect him to crack on.
