He's had a hard time with injuries but it sounds like Rodgers has not given up.

If he gets a good pre season could him and Flanagan handle RB next season?

He's a big lad all this up and down the wing is no good for him I'd like to see him used at CB.

If he's fit stick him at RB to sort out a problems with closing down wings and defending set pieces and keep it simple going forward. He is a good passing player.

agian it reads like he'll get a couple of cup games and thats it. this changes nothing for me... he played v shamrock rovers so its prob after interviews etc.... kelly has preseason to prove something and ilori is directly competing with him at RCB.

    we'll see.

Definitely running out of time if he wants to make it with first team. This season, or he never will.

  8. Low wage, loves the club, already at the club, better option than anything we could bring in to sit there as back-up (not that I agree to doing that), etc. Why not keep him? then again, I said similar for Spearing too <laugh>

    We should have kept Spearing...

And agree on Kelly. If he were on high wages, or older, he'd be off. But he's still young enough and cheap enough to be given time to see if he can get back to what he promised a few years back. Few cup games, see if he takes his chances. I hope he can, I've always liked him since he broke into the team, but I don't think he'll make it with us now unless Rodgers performs some miracles like he did with Flanno. I would guess he'd be RCB backup and Wisdom RB backup.

What's the news with Coates btw? Is he leaving or given another shot by Rodgers?

Coates is pretty much off - he would have been off sooner had he not got injured.

It's a shame because he is a very good defender but painfully slow. In the right team, he will flourish. But we need fast defenders who can play a high line.

  11. Kelly needs to have the mental attitude that Flanno had to get back to that stage. He's older too. I agree it is unlikely he will make it (at Liverpool) now but we may as well keep him for now, we can always sell him for similar worth (to now) in a few years.

Coates is out of contract this summer isn't he?
