Liam Kelly paid tribute to the City supporters for their patience in recent weeks as Sean O’Driscoll’s side fight to maintain their npower Championship status. The Scottish international has been a constant starter in the head coach’s 11-game reign at Ashton Gate, with his new club picking up 17 points in that time – including 16 from a possible 18 on home soil. The 23-year-old signed from Kilmarnock in January just days before former City boss Derek McInnes was sacked, but already looks an unflappable cog in the O’Driscoll wheel despite the immediate upheaval following his arrival but, though he admits performances have favoured substance over style, the former MK Dons trainee praised the contribution of those on the terraces for understanding the new approach. “The fans have been fantastic,” Kelly told Bristol City Player following Saturday’s 2-0 victory over Middlesbrough. “In a lot of games so far, especially the recent home ones, we’ve not gone out there and attacked as much as the fans might expect us to, but they’ve really got behind the team. “I’m sure if they keep on supporting us in the way they have been, we’ll be okay this season.” This weekend sees City travel to fellow strugglers Wolves in a potentially pivotal clash, and Kelly believes the team can use their positive experiences of playing at Ashton Gate in recent weeks to spur them on in front of a sizeable travelling contingent. please log in to view this image He added: “We’re level on points now so it’s going to be a big game, but they’re all big games – there’s nine left of the season now, and we’ve got to approach each and every game in the same way that we have been doing recently. “At home in recent times you’ve seen how solid we have been – that’s three clean sheets in a row now, which gives us a fantastic base to build on. “If we can keep defending as we have done, I’m sure goals will come our way in the upcoming games as well “As long as everyone’s got an understanding when we play, we go out there full of confidence.” Its textbook what he has said but its still nice to hear. He's been key to our 17 points picked up and is becoming quite a player. Keep it up Liam Future Captain for sure
He is surely a FCC as a certain M Atherton was said to be an FEC FCC - Future City Captain. FEC - Future England Captain. Plus in the fans eyes not tainted by the dross that happened Oct-Dec when some performances were dire and others even worse. We didn't have a team in those days just 14 individuals on the field for bits of 90 mins wandering about doing their thing.
