Duncan Castles, the ST journo who is very forthcoming with Leeds news, is saying that we're in negotiations to sign Keith Andrews from Blackburn on a season long loan and Jonathan Spector on a free from West Ham. Both would be good signings IMO but neither fit Ken's description of one being able to play up front, unless you count the time Spector scored 2 goals against the scum in the Carling Cup.
Andrews is ****e, if Ince hadn't gone to Blackburn, he'd have never got anywhere near the Premier League. We let him go to MK Dons on a free, he was that useless. Spector on the other hand, would be a decent signing.
Daily Mail reporting today that Chris Hughton on verge of making Spector Birmingham's latest Bosman signing
Duncan castles over daily mail anyday of the week. This guy is pretty good at getting the gossip. He broke the news 2 days ago about pastore going to PSG. Worth following if your on twitter.
Am I right in thinking Spector is a right-back who can play across defence? Or is he just a plain old right-back?
He aint that bad! Would do well in the championship regardless of whether he couldnt cut it with Hull. Bullard couldn't and he was class on his day!
Both look decent to me, Keith Andrews goal against Italy on youtube looked pretty special. Would rather see what he was like in a Leeds shirt than get Sanchez back for a third time...
Daily Mail reported Kasper was off to Leicester before anyone else had an inkling. Also Duncan Castles,he's the guy who said Leeds were about to sign Sammy Clingan,& then Giles Barnes was coming to us on trial. He's no more reliable than the Mail, bit hit & miss.
Spector can play across the back four but also had arguably his best performances playing CM in a few games last season when West Ham were short. Would be a cracking signing for anyone in this league and Im surprised WHU would let him go free. Perhaps his long balls arent good enough for Big Sam, but then I cant see how that would fit with a Leeds team.
At this moment in time WH's team are head and shoulders above every1. So losing a player like spector wouldn't hurt them at all
Neither of those were him. He was the guy who broke the news about Brown about a week before SSN even knew we were in talks. Sammy Clingan was Sky and Barnes was started by an ex NF striker.
Andrews always seemed like a quality player when I saw him, if a bit out of his depth in the Premier League. But at this level, he'd be a good capture. A defensive minded player if I'm not mistaken, which would provide good competition with Brown. Grayson could pull off another loan move similar to Micky Doyle (who undoubtedly did the donkey work in midfield), it'd be a decent signing. Spector, whenever I saw him play he'd be either brilliant or terrible, but he can play all across the defence and all across the midfield. We don't have a 'play anywhere' player since Hughes left, so it'd be a good signing as well, if only for cover.
cant see either happening...think now we have signed all we are going too except maybe a couple of loans.... im a little dissapointed to be fair...but lets see.. im more concerned up top now.... Becchio will be a real miss....
Bates has spent all the money, something he will do year after year until we are sold or in the hands of someone with a little more ambition. Bates lives in the past, in his old head be truly believes premiership football can be done on a shoestring.
Skysports.com understands Jonathan Spector is to undergo a medical at Birmingham City today ahead of signing a two-year contract, with the option of a further 12 months
I think if we bring in Bodor and Mendy, and maybe 2 season long loans, a CM and a Striker we will be sorted. And apart from loosing Becchio and Somma we will be looking good.
