Whatever happens this season - and I think promotion is a possibility since there are good teams in the league but nothing outstanding - we must keep our young players. I also think Leitner is essential because there are not many players who are capable of setting the tempo of a game and Leitner can do that, at least at this level. If we can hang on to these players, even should we fade away this season, I think we can all look forward to a very bright future.
For a team like us that blew all the Prem millions and parachute payments we are forced to sell to stay afloat. 4 or 5 seasons in the Championship would pretty much ruin us with no external funding . If we don't go up both our full backs will be sold to balance the books . This season will probably be our best chance to get promoted .
WOW. Yes DD, we did indeed 'blow the £Ms' to the extent that NCFC had to issue a Bond to fund improvements at Colney and who benefitted - certainly NOT the NCFC fans, but rather 'investors'!!! We'll get all the usual platitudes re not selling, but as you say, it's inevitable that lacking external investment, that's the only way we can survive as a club. .#norussian
I posted a recent (?) interview with Stuart Webber on the 'General football' thread earlier in which he confirms what DD and JMF have suggested above - we do not have rich owners, who can pump vast sums into the club, so selling is integral to our survival. Why do you think the club were so keen to tie Aarons, Lewis and Thompson down to longer contracts recently - more ££ when they do leave, as they will. Likewise Cantwell, this year's Maddison if he continues to improve. Unless she sells up and we get owners who can bale us out now and again, that's how it's going to be, unfortunately - there are basically no other options.
