I don't know too much about Jay Tabb but he is out of contract at Reading in the Summer and is looking for a move. He could solve our problems in Midfield what do you reckon? Anyone seen him play? http://www.twtd.co.uk/ipswich-town-news/22602/reading-midfielder-tabb-linked
He'd certainly be a decent player at this level, from what I'm aware he's a decent all rounder, perhaps a slightly niggly player, think of a better Westlake!! Would be a decent edition but won't solve our lack of creative just a solid player!! We are in desperate need of midfielders atm!!
This might mean that MM may start to send back some of these loan players then... If both Brown and Tabb (if he signs) are view to permanent signings then obviously MM would want to see them playing and therefore be able to run the rule over them properly. But I have no idea what the current deals are in terms of loan players so I'm not sure if we even have that option....
Tabb is now a Town player, for 1 month anyway.! http://www.twtd.co.uk/ipswich-town-news/22610/tabb-joins-town
A very good deal with a view to a permanent switch in the summer. I like the way that Mick goes about bringing these players in with minimal fuss. He is starting to build his team for next season
Have to agree with JWM, Micks bringing the players in on loan to have a good look at them before signing them on frees in the summer. It's the same with Brown.
Surely some have to go then... we can't fit them all into one match day squad so the axe has to be swung. I can't imagine Mick has brought him in and not intend to play him so someone has to be sacrificed
Welcome to Ipswich Jay, you can make a difference. Maybe McLean will go back, he's one of the only ones we aren't looking to sign. We seem to be looking at a lot of free transfers, maybe we're using the budget to pay slightly better wages instead of transfer fees. Could be a good strategy if wages have been a stumbling block in the past.
As we are only allowed 5 loanees (plus foreign loanees), who will miss out? Out of the 8 british loanees we have, 3 have to be dropped. Stearman obviously this week, and probably McLean. That leaves one out of Kisnorbo, Brown and Tabb. As we don;t have any CH cover, Kisnorbo will probably be on bench. So that leaves Brown or Tabb...one will be disappointed.
Out of our loan players we have 7 Domestic loans: Henderson Kisnorbo Stearman Brown Tabb McGoldrick McLean and then Murph & N'Diaw as International loans Who of the domestic 7 loanees should play then? for me, McLean should be returned to Hull but other than that they all have something to offer, even if it is just for cover. I think Brown is here as an 'extended trial' and therefore MM will be wanting to get him some game time (probably at the expense of Hewitt) and of those 7 Henderson & Stearman are probably the only ones we are possibly not looking to (or likely to) sign in the summer so will that have an effect... Difficult juggling act for MM and I doubt he has brought Brown and Tabb here without planning on playing them, why else would they join?
I think Brown would be good to have on the bench as he can play CB, RB, and DCM. Stearman starting, Tabb starting, McGoldrick possibly starting depending on other strikers Hendo preferably on the bench with Loach starting but I imagine MM will stick with him Which means I would drop Kisnorbo and McLean.
I saw a bit of him when he was at Brentford. It's a shame he didn't do too well in the Premiership, quality little player for a Championship side. I still think McCarthy made a big mistake sending Luongo back to us, not just because I rate Luongo but if we started to see you guys as a good club to send loan players to you could have ended up getting some top youngsters in the future. Our under 21s are top of the devlopment league and our under19s are in the quarters of the Nextgen having beaten Barca 4-1 along the way so the talents there to be loaned out. Anyway good luck avoiding the drop, big game for you guys this weekend.
I have just watched Jay Tabb's interview on Ipswich Player... "Ipswich is a massive club, Great stadium and training facilities...When I first found out that Ipswich and Mick McCarthy wanted me I didn't have to think twice..." Does someone in the club's PR Department hand a typed out sheet with all this drivel onto every new player!
It is always the same ol' spiel, but what do you want them to say? "Ipswich.........really?. I think they are a bit **** but my current manager forced me to come here so I don't have much choice. I don't like them much, hate their manager and think the stadium and facilities are quite poor. I plan on playing badly so that no move materialises from this dreadful loan. I can't wait for this month to be over" Don't think that would go down to well!
