Keeping RvP at any price

Discussion in 'Arsenal' started by Robin van Bergkamp, Oct 5, 2011.

  1. RvP delaying his commitment to the club fuels rumours and fears all of which are unsettling to the other players and naturally the supporters. While no player should be inexpendable the mental strength of the team is very possibly at it's lowest for quite sometime. Letting RvP go would prove to be a very counter productive move, whatever size of carrot may be dangled before him or the club. It could signal further discontent and disruption let alone be the catalyst of a further wave of departures which we could ill afford. Thus I think keeping RvP would be a stand Arsenal has to make in it's efforts at regaining both form and place in the game.

    What do you think pals?

Don't really agree. If a player wants out either for more money or doubts about the club - let them go.
We could make really good money for him if we let it be known in January.
Then we could really go for a top striker.
Its also coming up to decision time for Walcott and Arshavin, both I have rated in the past - but now not doing it where they are being used.
If this is to continue we should sell. We've fudged the team 11 playing guys out of position for too long.

  3. Going for a top striker would invariably mean top wages and the board and/or Arsene won't go for that. So we are mired in the market for cheaper cuts.....

So if we sell them, it may not automatically mean that whoever we bring in will be played in the right position. Arshavin seems to have gone to seed again. I really don't know what to make of him but Walcott might be salvageable perhaps? He has shown in the past that he excels in the role of a striker. Why Wenger insists and persists on playing him out of position is as mysterious as the man's other decisions.

Thus if we cannot get over the decision-making, should we perhaps not change the decision maker? ;)

Agreed. I've posted messages for years supporting the debt pay-off and AW (despite lots of issues).
Last year I finally found myself giving up on him - to coin a simple word- he's ' lost' it - us - the players - the fans who care enough to spend time on these forums hoping to put things right.
Sadly that has finally resulted in voting with our feet - the players, the opinions, even the crowd at the Emirates.
Time for a change - we cannot compete with the big spenders, or the better tacticians.

  8. I think he's trying to say that RvP will be injured before too long and hence will have to stay with us and that the international fixtures may hasten the onset of an injury. Not sure about how he ties this in with the Dutch medical profession unless he is alluding that they are not up to it.
