http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/...ht-stars-they-produce-themselves-9392804.html Article about how Man City used to lose good players and now don't, compared with Southampton.
I really am in the wrong job. "Journalists" can spunk rubbish out like this on a daily basis and get paid.
Really struggled to read that link myself...never known one to shoot by so fast. Had to reduce to 50% and read through strong glasses...even then took 5 attempts. Makes some interesting points...not at all down on Saints. Merely saying that we find ourselves where City were a few years back....in danger of losing our best players at a time we would hope to build. I like their image of Saints as Mother Earth with aliens circling to asset strip. One point which I have made before...Saints would never let all their players go....so many seem to think that the whole kit and caboodle can just up sticks. Also as the article says, the board have to handle the narrative of those that go...i.e. come out as the good guys with loads of dosh.
I thought it was not a bad piece...not saying we have to let everyone go (unlike other papers) but saying we are in a difficult position (just as City were).
yep I thought it was well thought out and didn't say state as other articles feel able to say with some surity that Lallana and Shaw are already gone. Refreshing for an article to deal with the possibility that players may leave rather than state it as something that has already happened.
"What City have bought is more than other clubs’ best players – it is the power to hang on to the bright stars they produce themselves" What, Man City producing their own bright stars?
