This week saw Chilcompton away to league contenders Bristol City JSC. The game was played in poor weather conditions. However, Chilcompton took advantage in the first few minutes with an unexpected goal from goal keeper Marc Rymer. He kicked a wind-assisted ball from his own penalty area which bounced over the Bristol keeper as he came out to meet it. With the wind behind them Chilcompton had plenty of scoring chances in the first half but the ball was difficult to control. It was left to Kailan Gould, who showed his class with a perfectly placed left footed shot from the 18 yard line, to give Chilcompton a 2 goal lead at half-time. Although playing against a strong wind in the first half it was clear that Bristol were a strong team and despite being behind they were going to be difficult to contain with the 2 goal lead not looking that decisive. Some tactical changes at half-time strengthened the Chilcompton midfield but the defence was under constant pressure throughout the second half. It took a strong, disciplined, effort, coupled with some good fortune to prevent the Bristol team from scoring. Good forward running from Jacob Gooch supported by the midfield saw Chilcompton coming close to adding to the score line in the final stages. Overall a memorable team performance with each player contributing. http://www.somersetguardian.co.uk/K...ol-City-away/story-20691358-detail/story.html
