So what will be our Keeping situation next season? We have had an extra keeper this season which I feel was not a situation the Good Doctor wanted due to the restricted playing budget he is working with. So what will happen?

Hamer - I feel he will be sold, we will want somewhere between £500,000 and £1,000,000 and TGD will (I feel) be asked to play him again, this season, when his confidence improves so we get the best price possible.
Button - The club have a lot of confidence in him and he will be our No. 1 next season, may be moved back to the bench soon to give Hamer some more playing time.
Sullivan - Will be released this summer to save on wages, I expect him to get a L1 Club or top L2 Club.
Pope - I expect him to be our No.2 next season, sent off to Cambridge to gain more first team experience and Chris expects him to be good enough to replace their current keeper if Pope is going to be our No. 2 next season. A good chance for him to prove himself.
Dillon Phillips - I expect him to be our U21 keeper next season and the squad's No. 3

Injuries could be covered by loans to cover short term problems.

I guess the above would save about £400,000 in player wages and generate about £750,000 in transfer fees which is the way the Doctor needs to go over the summer so he can strengthen our areas in the squad.

    Thoughts?

Pope out on loan presumably with a recall clause. Sullivan, Hamer and others tweeting their fond farewells this morning. I'd be happy enough going into next year with Hamer & Button with pope as third choice whether on loan or not. A decent offer though and Hamer will be sold. His star is not quite so much in the ascendant as a few months ago but I think he is potentially a premiership keeper.

That's how I see things, AHLL, so let's hope that Hamer's loss of form is just a blip. I expect him to come back in for the run-in, hopefully back to his best.

Think you've hit the nail on the head. And who says there isn't any transparency from within the club these days?

Pope is off to Cambridge to "compete" for the jersey. How does a goalie "compete" if the man in possession is doing a decent job?

It doesn't make sense. My take on it is that Cambridge Utd are not happy with their present keeper and want to see if they can do better. But to save the guy's face they cannot say they are bringing in a 20-year-old to replace him, just to "compete". If their own keeper pulls his finger out and improves, it is a win for them.

If he doesn't, Pope stays this season giving them time to find another 'keeper. Normally this works best if the host club is in with a chance of signing the loanee permanently (so he is, in effect, on an extended trial) but I can't see Pope wanting to go there. He has just escaped from the freezing flatlands.

They've conceded 19 in their last 10 matches, including a 3-0 home defeat to Alfreton. They're in 'relegation form', though not in danger of relegation.

    Give Pope a chance

Good for him. He was having too easy a time of it behind under-21's defense.
