Newcastle fan in peace, Firstly i am over the moon with the result today [I must admit it was a bit smash and grap] but I am not on here to gloat but to say how much respect i have for Swansea.
The way you guys pass the ball is amazing and made it frustrating to play against even at 2.0 down you never changed your game plan.
Its great that you have a core of Welsh players in the team as that will be a massive boast for your National team which I now have a soft spot for since the late great Gary Speed took change.
In a week that has seen us play another team who are worlds apart then Swansea's who have got it so wrong LIVERPOOL they have spend
a stupid amount of money on average quality,Liverpool expect to do well and have a large amount of arrogance which is so different to you guys, imagine if Brendan Rodgers had that money at his grasp !!!
He has bought so well but most of all he has gelled the team around the orginal players like leon Britton who is a star player.
Good luck and enjoy the season and many more seasons in the prem

<cheers> A good win for you guys. We play the 'right way' but our Chairman needs a wake up call on the spending front if we're ever going to be more than a mid-table side imo. Most of us are happy with that right now but if we want to progress.......

As a Newcastle fan I was extremely frustrated with the lack of ball we had today, when we did we were hounded off it by a few Swansea players, all over the park. You guys impressed me and frustrated me incredibly today. Good luck for the rest of the season, look forward to our future games.

Brilliant football by you guys! Played us off the park and we relied of picking you off by your rare mistakes. Never before has a match infuriated me so much and that is credit to your lot. I expected a draw here and thought we were going to lose. Shame there was no plan B but you play the right way and deserve to be high up the league. Keep the faith chaps. Your team have served you well :)

QWOP - Again, thanks for the kind words lol. It's a real shame you Toon lads can see that we did play you off the park (In a way), because one of our own has been spouting how rubbish we were lol.

Once Buck comes up with a plan B, I think next year we will aim for a top 10 finish. Looking at our stats today, it is just the final third we lack, and the inability to defend for 90 minutes, but saying that, Cisse is/and was amazing today. A bargain.

I'm sure Buck is on record as saying that we don't need a plan B or plan C....just execute plan A better. :emoticon-0112-wonde

I think the way Swansea played has to be admired. Keeping the ball for such long periods is alot harder than it looks. That said, alot of the game happened 50-60 yards away from the Newcastle goal which is neither here nor there in game terms. When you went 2-0 down I thought I would see a much more positive Swansea but you continued to pop the ball around like you were 5-0 up! it was very strange. I will be honest too, it was a really boring game to watch and I think Newcastle deserved the win just for the amount of patience they showed in the performance overall.

Played us off the park is a huge exaggeration, we clearly set up to play the way we did and it worked. I was very impressed though with your team's work rate closing our players down, every one of our guys had three or four Swansea players on him within a couple of seconds whenever he got the ball. We can just thank our lucky stars that we had Cabaye and Cisse today who were really clinical.

Not sure about your team's finances but all you need is an investment to add that cutting edge and you'll be a very good team seriously challenging the European places.

Boring as hell today but I think we played a part in that as we were happy to just let Vorm, their defence and their midfield pass it around each other for half the match. Think it just depends, some people love watching possession teams and others hate it, personally I'm not particularly enamoured with it but at the same time I've seen some lovely stuff from Swansea. Sigurdsson's long shots looked the biggest threat for them today though which says a lot about where their priorities lie in the summer - they need to invest in someone to give them that cutting edge which is the only thing they really seem to be missing.

As I said despite them conceding two I found their defensive work better to watch than their attacking or passing, hugely impressed with the way their players closed the ball down when we had it.

I hate to say it guys but IMO this is going to be as good as it gets with Swansea city. As KJ says, we need investment to progress and we all know that aint going to happen in bucket fulls!! I dont mind that either. We cut our cloth accordingly and we have done for many seasons. Cisse cost £9.5m quid but Djemba Ba cost nothing !! the big problem for us is that Free transfers will want big wages and players that will fit into our wage structure will cost unrealistic transfer fees (im thinking £4.5m for an unproven championship standard player)

Its difficult for the club and i understand why, dont expect us to progress unless there are a few gambles made in the transfer market the other option is that we sell some family silver to raise funds for team building.

I disagree, not totally, but a little.

While it is as good as it will get with this crop of players, do you not think HJ has done the sensible thing here? Ensure Premier league survival in the first season, and then hit the transfer window for the second season.

Take a look at QPR. Ran away with the title last season, then got rid of most of the players that got them promotion. They then bought a load of players to "ensure" they got Premier league survival. These players havn't had time to work as a unit and bond, hence their league position. So, for me, I think HJ and the board have told Buck to make sure we remain in the PL before we spend a load of cash on players. It's even on record that Buck wants to bring in 4 or 5 players in the summer.

All would have been well doing a QPR, but unlike them, we havn't got millionaire owners, so had we have spent a wad of cash, then got relegated, who's going to pay the wages?

I for one don't want to see this club back where it was 9 years ago.

    Just my opinion.

Good points JackAsh, we are on a shoestring budget in reality with our competitors and yet we are punching well above our weight.

Strange game yesterday, sometimes when Vorm passed the ball out of our box every Newcastle player was in their own half. While we may lack a bit of quality upfront that approach was always going to difficult to break down. It took Man Utd with £100 million pounds of talent 82 minutes to break down Blackburn. And they are a relegation haunted side not a team sitting in 5th.

I think a bit of realism is required here. When Norway says " I hate to say it guys but IMO this is going to be as good as it gets with Swansea city". Well if that means beating Arsenal and Man City at home, being clapped at Anfield then I say I can live with that!

We having a fantastic season and that should not be forgotten!

JackCwm, your last two sentences summed it all up. When was the last time a newly promoted side got the plaudits we have, beaten Arsenal and the league leaders at the time.........Oh, and getting applauded off the field at numerous games.

I'm a happy Jack. Yes, we've lost 3 on the trot, yes we need a plan B, but I'm still happy.

thats all teams need to do to beat us, smash and grab ...its so simple to do, you dont even have to do much just watch us pass the ball for most of the game and wait for your chance when we inevitably make a mistake.....its brilliant for teams and so easy to play against. we have one loan player that knows what he is doing and the rest....well ...our losses at home with all that possession tells a story, pretty and entertaining to watch but as winners...nah....beating man city, and arsenal were a piece of luck and now after teams watched those games know how to beat us....and its so easy for them....will we get away playing like we do next season IF we manage by the skin of our teeth to do so.......not a chance....:emoticon-0106-cryin

".our losses at home with all that possession tells a story, pretty and entertaining to watch but as winners...nah."

Last time I looked we were mid table and won the vast majority of our home games? Maybe it's me.

your deluded kangaroo....forget past games and look at the present....3 very easy losses on the trot while we had the majority of possession..<doh> get up to date......we have been found out and big changes in the way we play must happen if we ever want to win another game....this has been coming for a long time and all the praise in the world of teams will not win us games.....its pathetic and patronising
