Whatever happens today, I just want to say well done to Wenger and the players for getting us back into contention this season. It hasn't been easy, for players or for the fans. The start of this season was calamitous and was littered with doom mongering and claims that we'd finish mid table, that Wenger should walk, that Walcott should be sold, that we could replace Wenger with Fat Sam etc. Even after the 8-2, I said that we'd be good enough for a top 4 finish and whilst that was ridiculed by some for being 'blinkered' and 'blind faith' I knew that we had enough in us to turn it around and that the faith was not misplaced. I think it's credit to Le Boss and the players that they are playing for 3rd today. At the start of the season I don't think there were any Gooners that thought we'd finish above Man Utd and Man City, so I think we can be satisfied with our position. Anyway, big day for us all today - let's all get behind the manager and the players and support the Club we love
It's been a poor season no matter what happens today. We need change in the summer to truly compete. Even if we win today our points haul is not impressive. We have been handed a chance to get 3rd. I hope we take it and rebuild from here. As has been said many times this season, some fans settle for a battle for CL, 20 poins off the title race, and no trophies. I certainly do not. I do think it is damaging to our club for fans to congratulate Wenger for a season like this.
Szczesny, Arteta, and Rosicky - couldnt agree more The fact we have a team of journey men though (not my assessment it has to be said) is Wenger's fault. It's like somebody throwing a brick through your window, then replacing it with a lower quality glass. You wouldnt really give them credit.
Hear hear... will always be a supporter whatever happens today. Arsenal fan for life COYG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We should be favorites against teams like West Brom even with a line up of all 2nd choice midfielders to be honest. I'm as disappointed as anyone else with Ramsey this season, but we should win this even with a deadweight in the team.
PISKIE, You were being a little ambitious with this one mate lol! It's been a frustrating Season for all concerned. However, I echo the OP's sentiment that Congratulations are in order, we are after all, playing for a place in the Group Stages of UCL. I believe RVP will renew his contract & with a few more astute acquisitions, we can set about reducing the points deficit between us & the Manchester Clubs. COYG
To reach that conclusion the rest of the team would have to be the same each time, and the level of performance of the opposition exactly the same. The oppo can have a good day, be a stronger team, other Arsenal players absent, etc etc. In short, you can't reach that conclusion that we are stronger simply without Aaron.
In comparison to some of the predictions of what would happen to us this season, I think my assessment is quite measured
I think we are due a good performance today. The team owe it to us and I believe we are perfectly capable of getting three points. As long as the effort and concentration are there, we have enough quality to take the game to West Brom. Let's win this and then talk about what's needed in the future after the final whistle COYG!!!
I would say it has been a poor season, yet we find ourselves in 3rd place. Whether that be down to the poor form of others or not, it's still a great achievement. I don't care if we play poorly, as long as we get the results, the most important of those being today.
Yes it is - and I dont recall anyone ever saying we would finish mid table I did once say on current form we would finish mid table (which was correct at the time) - but you know this already You do like to lie though, so i guess its the norm for you. As for this season overall - poor.
PISKIE, I am in complete agreeance with keeping the faith. With some of the doom mongers in here, the positivity never really had a chance lol.
We can because we also watch the games and ramsey is awful. The stats merely add some more evidence (not that its needed)
You got stats on ramsey not just wins? Like draws wins and losses? Edit: Also its funny cos ramsey not playing was mainly against top sides like city, spuds, everton away etc. We had that hard run of fixtures and ramsey didnt play in those and we STILL WON
