The massive Keeneland September Yearling Sale gets underway later today with a select session of 219 yearlings commencing at 12pm local time (5pm UK time) The sale runs from 9th to 21st September (13th is the only day with no horses selling) and 3,908 yearlings are catalogued. Traditionally the best horses are offered in "Book 1" which covers the first four days of the sale, though that is not to say that stars cannot come out of the later sessions - Group 1 winning two year old sold from "Book 3" last year. Last year 7 yearlings topped $1million and the 2,516 horses sold generated turnover of more than $219million.
