good riddance to bad rubbish. I dont care that kedwell supports the club. He's absolutely useless. If it werent for pens he'd have a Mulligan-esque strike rate.
Apparently Kedders is out with a hamstring injury. http://www.kentonline.co.uk/kentonline/sport/2013/february/8/gills_v_bradford_reaction.aspx A couple of paragraphs below the pic of MA.
Possibly one of the stranger posts I have ever read on this board, Kedwell has always given 100% when he has played for the Gills, his work rate is one of the best I have ever seen from a gills player in the 35 years I have been supporting this club and he was our leading goalscorer last season and is the leading goal scorer this season, indeed he always scores his penalties but he does score other goals as well including one against a premiership team last season, I can only presume Major you have had one too many beers?
not atall. I just dont rate the guy atall. He works hard, he runs around a lot. But so do a lot of poor strikers. See Gary Mulligan. There seems to be this view from gills fans that becuase he supports the club and becuase he runs around like a headless chicken that he is half decent but in reality if you take out his pens during his time in the football league i reckon his scoring rate would be about 1 in 6 or so. Thats just a guess. I stand to be corrected. How many goals has he scored from open play this season ? One against bradford on the opening day which was a good goal to be fair, and one against port vale recently. other than that im struggling. Not good enough for a team that have been in the top 2 all season. Cody comes straight in and gets 3 in 4. He is everything that Kedwell isnt.
Major I couldn't agree more with you, I've compared him with Mulligan in the past. If you pay me a few grand a month I could run around the pitch like a headless chicken and be utterly ineffective. The fact he's a fan is no reason to keep him. He still looks overweight, slow,he's cant jump and he's got the turning circle of a small oil tanker. Let him go and sign up Lenny!! Please don't go on about how much he contributes to the team, he's a striker he should be banging in goals from open play.
Do you people not realise that there are more than one type of striker? McDonald is a finisher. Given his chance and he will score a goal. Birchall is a fox in the box. Deadly in the area when given time or space but needs supply. Burton and Kedwell are both more of your stereotypical Centre Forward's as opposed to striker. Their work rate is very high and they bring other people into play to score goals. We scored more goals last season than any other team. Majority of them goals were either scored by or had something to do with Kedwell. If you are wondering Rooney is a stereotypical Centre Forward. Kedwell also offers the target man approach in the fact that he can control the ball in the air and also offer good headers. In order to crticise a striker, you need to know what type of player they are. Failure to even understand what different strikers offer results in inept single minded comments.
Of course i realise there is more than one type of striker. Hence why Deon Burton gets no criticism. In isolation, he's scoring record is not the greatest, but he contributes to the team, has a great touch, and crucially scores important goals.
I resent the implication that i do not understand the game Mr peg leg. just becuase someone disagrees with you doesnt mean they dont understand the game. If Kedwell never plays another game for the club i wont shed a tear. I would honestly rather the Mulligan of 06/07 than the present day Danny Kedwell.
Yeah but Kedwell works hard and is a simular player to Burton also Burton plays more now and he does not score many at home.
As Michael Winner would have said......'Calm down'. Yes there are different types of striker. There are also different types of fan who expect or desire different things from these players. You just cannot please all of the people all of the time. They're damned if they do score and damned if they don't.......and if a striker should let his head drop (as Burton has been accused of many times this season).......well it's just not on is it? It could be the frustration that this player realises he's not having the kind of game that Lenny or Major would like to see and is well.......not best pleased with himself!! No....of course not......the fan always knows best and all the answers all of the time. A striker's role is not an easy one and he is the hub around which all of the goalscoring opportunities will revolve in some form or other. If we were not scoring I'd be worried....but I'm not. However.......I really do wish that our chaps could win a few more of the games on our own turf. I know......lets blame the strikers!!!!!! Queue scene from Monty Python and the Holy Grail....'Burn them, lets just burn them.......they must be witches' UTG.......

But you have completely ignored the contribution that Kedwell makes to the team, Most of the goals we have scored this season and last for that matter had Kedwell somehow involved. We've only lost once all season when he has started and just because you're anti-Kedwell you therefore decide that he is the world's worst player and can't even recognise his contribution to the team. As for Mulligan, Kedwell offers a lot more than Mullers ever did. Thats why League teams actually want Kedwell and Mulligan is playing Northern Premier level.
