Often derided for being the food of choice for pissy-pants at the end of a long night of necking copious amounts of Wife Beater but this much maligned foodstuff needs our love I used to frequent Kebab Kid in Fulham and they used to weigh out the meat in their lamb shawarmas, tight c.unts. Having said that their kebabs were lush. What is your favourite kebab? Do you go for lamb, chicken or even fish? Extra hot chili sauce or good old fashioned ketchup? Hold the salad or full works including the pickled pepper? Or do you go for a mixture of meats? Unless they do a decent shawarma I usually go for a doner with lettuce, cabbage and cucumber, no sauce or I might swap out the doner for chicken shish if I want to be a bit healthier.
I have to agree with the end of a drunken night out. Tried one once when sober and it was ****ing awful.
You have to be drunk to even contemplate a doner. A decent shish kebab can actually qualify as gourmet eating if you go to the right place. Palmers Green (aka Palmers Greek) in North London is kebab mecca btw.
I love kebabs and kebab shop style salad. When out I tend to have lamb shish, all the salad, garlic sauce and no bread. At Home I make the salad most weeks and store it in several tubs to have with lunch and/or dinner: pickled cabbage, sliced onion, sliced lettuce, sliced tomatoes and sliced cucumber. I make lots of different spicy meats to go with this, jerk chicken is a favourite.
