Cheers billy, good read that <ok>

As you might guess, I am an admirer of Keane and thought he did an exceptional job for us, I am pleased he rates the fans and the club.

Pretty honest, he was happy with what he achieved but could have done better

He took us from 3pts and third bottom (I think) to 88pts in top position over 40 games, I honestly think we would have been relegated if it wasn't for him.

I would have said the lowest would have been about 25k mate. <ok>

I absolutely loved this......

“The sports psychology is useful, but in moderation. The lad who went to the World Cup with the England team, Dr Steve Peters, has written a book called The Chimp Paradox, about the chimp in your head. The chimp is running the show. I tried to read it - I'm open-minded - but my chimp wouldn’t let me.”

My chimp was laughing away reading it. <rofl>

24,242 Vs WBA we won 2-0 under Quinn and it was our first points of the season. 14,000 <doh>

Some good snippets there. It seems he actually took to the club a lot more than was obvious.

You know, the 'if we'd signed Bent...' bit might not be a million miles from the truth, had we got Bent a couple years earlier, how much further down the line might we be?

Good read.

My thoughts exactly mate.
And it's clear he looked into moving his family here.

Can't understand why Pennywell Comp wasn't good enough for his kids mind?

Oh aye it's not a Catholic school. :p

We don't need to wonder too much anyway, he went to Ipswich and was hapless.

We'd not have developed much further under him, we'd have risen a few places with a goalscorer like Bent but we'd have hit a ceiling, I think.

I'm gonna buy this book mind, all the snippets look decent, both the SAFC ones and otherwise.

One thing without question is that Keano has personality & character.

He clearly needed a guiding hand, maybe if he had brought in an older managerial hand as an assistant?
He makes it plain how hard it was to attract better players here, over more glamorous locations too.

Yep I'll be getting it, I read his other one.
What about him I like is he stands by what he says and isn't afraid to admit when he is wrong.

Numerous people have tried to get him to show remorse for "that" tackle and he has never backed down.
As far as he was concerned the bloke was a ****, and his opinion on that has never changed. hahaha

Even Steve Howie intimated Haaland was a bit of a nasty ****. As we all know, it takes one to know one.

I like Keane, despite his bloody mindedness. loved his passion for the game and good to see he enjoyed his time with us, overall. but agree with Nads that he'd hit a ceiling sooner or later, as his career has shown.

I can see him learning at Villa, more than he would with the part time job with the Irish.
The Irish job will be no use whatsoever in club management.

Reid Keane Poyet the only worthy men of taking charge of my club that I've seen, the man did a great job and would have continued if not for his own problems imo

I don't think so, he had hit a wall and knew his time was up.
He was struggling to get performances out of the players at the end.

Threw his toys out the pram when Short began to question his methods. His methods needed questioning.

He couldn't work for Short? He should try working for Levy. Great player but he's a choker as a manager in my eyes. That said, did well getting us up.

He could of bee n handled better if he had been open to it (he wasn't, his problem) a older member of the coaching staffstaff to reign him in a bit might have made the difference

Just ordered his new book

Looking forward to reading about his time here

Also judging by some of the things I have seen on Facebook and Twitter a lot of it is comedy gold!
