With the egg chasers season just a few weeks away I hope that steps are being taken to keep the pitch in a better condition than last season. A ****ed up playing surface wouldnt do us any favours with the slick passing style we have.
This topics been done to death in the past, but the pitch is looking great at the moment. A few lads who don't come to watch City very much came yesterday and said how good the pitch was looking.
Ulleffsee have their first home game on 12 Jan I think. I can't be arsed to check but are we at home the day after agen Sheff Wed on tele at teatime? if the pitch is stuffed the night before, and notwithstanding rain, sleet or lard on the surface, that could be a non-spectacle viewers expecting the same kind of football we saw yesterday, and also great non-advertisement for dual pitch usage. Oh to be in Melton in January!
That's actually economical with the truth, what the groundsman in question said was that the pitch got more damage during the football season because of the weather conditions. As a game, rugby chews up the pitch more and also leaves no time for proper regrowth. Both points to me are academic as it's a fact that both clubs play on the pitch, so the pitch needs to be designed and maintained to accommodate them. It's further true that it's supposed to be a community stadium, but they price out any amateur games, or even training, for fear of damage to the grass.
as they are only playing friendlies, they could probably be accommodated at Costello Athletics Stadium. Probably even on Costello Playing Fields itself as Councillor Geraghty felt this was more than suitable for Mr Allam's Hull City as a training facility I believe.
