http://www.lcfc.com/news/article/060213-schmeichel-hoping-for-denmark-bow-641040.aspx Personally, I think this is great news for both the player and the club ... keepers tend to get better better with age and getting a full International cap for his country should be a massive boost to his confidence .. ... also good news in terms of his financial value for Leicester City FC which should go up a few notches!!
He has had a really good season and deserves his cap. Just needs to spend more time practicing :- 1) His punching - needs a lot more air and distance on them, and 2) His kicking when the ball is played back to him from a wide area (has often sliced it or not got height with his kick) His shot stopping and dead ball kicking have been first class (as has his kicking when the ball is played to him from a central area)
He's having a better season than last IMO. He might not be having the games like Southampton at home but he has been a lot more solid overall.
But isn't that simply because we're not conceding the same level of pressure than we were at times last season? A sign we're a better side all round. If we get promoted by just one or two points, Then that last minute penalty save against Boro will surely secure him legendary status!
I am no expert on KS but have seen him a few times. A good keeper at this level, his shot stopping and distribution look to be spot on from what I've seen. Always looks a bit susceptible under a high ball if memory serves me well and his punching needs some work but he 'll get better with age. I'm surprised he hasn't had a call up before now to be honest.
He's susceptible to a high ball if an attacker puts him under pressure. That would be his biggest flaw in my eyes and even that doesn't happen too often. I can think of 3 times it's happened (all televised). 1) when he fouled Elliot Bennett in the cup last season for their penalty (still saved the penalty, but they scored the rebound) at about 55 seconds in. 2) When Robbie Findley missed a sitter after Kasper flapped at a deflected cross, again at about 55 seconds in, 3) Against Wolves last week when his punch wasn't really good enough and Sako should have scored.
His distribution is excellent though, his assist for Knockaerts goal versus Wolves was just first class!
I wish he would actually just come and catch the high ball rather than trying to punch .. but then I was spoiled by watching Shilts during my formative days ... any high ball into the box Shilts would just come and claim it ... awesome.
Not a great start - he might feel a bit disappointed. First goal was difficult but he was a bit slow getting down to his left, second was great shot from around 20 yards, third was a header from free kick - again not easy but was rooted to his line. Stats seem to show 3 shots on target for the game and Guardian player ratings (based on only one response so far though!) give him a 3 out of 10.

Poor positioning and too slow at getting down for the first 2nd he had no chance and 3rd he might have be able to save It's obvious to me Denmark lack a Wes Morgan
I think the first goal he was caught out by the deflection. You never know where the ball may go. Second unsaveable. The third is actually the worst keeping for me. Slow to respond and slow in the air. He was probably nervous, especially following in his dad's footsteps. I hope it isn't his last start.
admittedly, I'd love to have KS at Hull City, great GK especially to say he's still not reached his prime, he can only get better.
As an all round keeper there isnt a better keeper in the league imo Shot stopping, distribution, commanding his area are all top class Plus strangely for a Sven player he has a very good attitude. He made some comments to the Danish media saying he just wants to play football every week even if they means playing in a lower divison.
I don't think he could have done much more with any of those. First one he is a bit unsighted plus there is a deflection, second one was a rocket and the third he was let down by his defenders, who should have won that header. Good ball in though, it rooted our Kasper.
I'd put all 3 goals down to bad defending - pity the highlights weren't longer so we could see if he did anything else.
