Leeds have confirmed that they've agreed a fee with Leicester for the young keeper, claiming that they accepted the small amount as he was out of contract at the end of next season, but is anyone else surprised both that he appears to be going pretty cheaply and that nobody in the Premier League has come in for him?

If Gomes is on the way out, as it appears, then I wouldn't mind bringing in an inexpensive replacement (Westwood, Sorensen?), spending a relatively small amount on a talented prospect and loaning him straight back out, to be honest.
With Friedel and Cudicini clocking in at about 75 between them, we could do with someone for the future and he's looked good, whenever I've seen him.

Maybe Sven's influence has continued it's work at the Foxes?

He was City keeper under Sven wasn't he?

He'd be a good number 2 and signing him and then loaning out is very good idea.

Thought the same when I heard the story on the radio. Apparently the first he heard about the move was when it was announced and is giving it some thought. His time at Leeds appears to be over though. With Pletikosa wanting away, it makes sense to us; Whether it makes sense to a young player who wants frst team football is debatable.

If he's given an immediate loan out for first team football and looks at the age of our current keepers (Gomes excepted), then he might consider it a good move, Chirpy.

Maybe you're right, but that further destabilises Pletikosa's position and means we need yet another 'keeper as number three surely?

Pletikosa's only on loan and he's leaving at the end of it, anyway.
That's why I suggested bringing in another keeper on the cheap, too.
It's more competition and may put off a prospect, but Friedel won't last forever and Cudicini won't be too far behind him, either.

don't know if he'll be as good as his dad,but he plays very much like him, could be a good signing if we could get him

If KS comes in, I am sure he will not come as number 3. I think we can take it as read that Friedel is number one. That means pushing Carlo down the pecking order. He has just re-signed, but I am sure he will not fancy what is essentially not playing at all especially as his time left playing is limited by his age. This means, as you say, Schmeichel goes out on loan (he has spent a lot of time on loan already) and we get yet another keeper. So we lose Petikosa and have to buy 2 keepers to replace him, or secure another on loan. I guess if KS was a proven continually improving player, then that could be a medium term plan, looking at the age of the other two. But is he?

Pletikosa's gone anyway and I'd suggest that Gomes probably is too, so we have to bring in at least one more keeper, in my opinion.

Whatever we do and whoever we go for, we've got a dilemma.
If we get in a youngster, then he'll need to play to improve and learn, but he won't get many games as Friedel must have been given assurances about that.
If we get in a more experienced keeper, then will they be happy sitting on the bench?

I think that the best solution is probably the least logical, on the surface.
    Bring in both.
Friedel and Cudicini probably don't have long left in their careers, so they'll both need to be replaced in the next couple of years.
Get in someone that'll deputise and play in the cups and a youngster to loan out, who can then come in when at least one of the others has retired, to act as back-up and competition or even take the number 1 jersey, if they've done well enough.

I spoke to a Leeds fan earlier and apparently the consensus amongst them is that they'll be happy for him to leave. He said KS is a great shot stopper but he gets caught out on crosses(remind you of anyone?) and his distribution is pretty atrocious. He's also fallen out with the defenders on more than one occasion for blaming them when it's not their fault. They've been linked with every backup PL 'keeper since, from Shay Given to Jason Brown.

Keepers mature more slowly than outfield players in general and Schmeichel has always tried to join clubs where he's first choice, Lidls.
He joined Notts County when they were supposed to be on the way up and then joined Leeds and was part of their promotion and a decent season in the Championship, so I wouldn't knock him for that.

    Is he Premier League standard?
I honestly don't know and Leeds fans would have a far better idea than I would, but he's impressed my whenever I've seen him.

If he's not good enough, then I'd still like to see a younger keeper brought into the squad.
We've been linked with a few in the past, but I don't watch enough lower league football to rate them.

    Schmeichel's only 24 though, Lidls.
There aren't many keepers that are consistent and reliable at that age.

Most keepers in the Premier League are older and more experienced than Schmeichel, so it's not really surprising that nobody's taken a punt on him.
Leeds are letting him go cheaply because his contract has only 12 months left to run.
He might not be good enough either, I'm not really in a position to judge, but it's a reasonable explanation.

Seems Grayson doesn't rate him, saying they sold him bacause he conceded to many goals lsat season, and they have better keepers there
