Just found this funny thought by Kamui Kobayashi... The 2011 Formula One season will throw up some "funny moments" due to the Pirelli tyre situation, according to Kamui Kobayashi. "Maybe we will see a Red Bull being overtaken by a Hispania," Sauber's Japanese driver, referring to the extreme degradation of the tyres seen in testing, told Auto Motor und Sport. "If they're on older hard tyres and Hispania have a brand new set of super-softs, it could happen," added Kobayashi. "For the spectators it would certainly be a little confusing." Meanwhile, Kobayashi welcomed the news about Suzuka renewing its Grand Prix contract for 2012, but admitted that Japan's Formula 1 golden days are over. "Motor sport is still a European sport," said 24 year old Kobayashi. "In Japan, sumo and baseball are the most popular, even though when there was Senna and Prost, it was fashionable to go to the Formula 1 races. "But sadly those times are over," he acknowledged
That could in theory happen, but I'd be guessing the top teams would take that as a sign to pit On a side note Kobayashi seems to be liked by all F1 fans (or am I wrong), quite a rare feat these days.
Kobayashi might be right: http://www.f1fanatic.co.uk/2011/03/16/lapped-drivers-drs-pass-leader-whiting/
I think Kobayashi's shown he's competitive, and a cool character, which is probably why fans like him. Although I guess, having not raced for the top teams yet, he's not had all the controversies that turn people against a driver. I think its possible, especially if a lapped HRT pits and comes out behind a Red Bull on its last lap before pitting. Going to be an interesting season!
I think he's a good driver, but not great. His performances are eye catching because of his aggression, but I don't think he's exceptionally talented. Although it's hard to show it in a Sauber with no regular teammate.
