Kacaniklic has signed a new two-year contract extension, with the option of a further year (in the club's favour, presumably), meaning he's under contract until 2014 or 2015, depending on whether we take up the option. http://www.fulhamfc.com/Club/News/NewsArticles/2012/July/AlexsNewDeal.aspx
This is one of the pieces of news I was waiting for! Kaca looks a great talent and, along with Frei, is one of the young players we should be looking to make a step up this year. The next player I'm hoping will step up is Dan Burn. Exciting times for our academy!
You're correct surlyc. Kaca while still young at 21 next month, is two years older than Frei so that may have something to do with the length of the respective contracts. Whatever both of them signing is terrific news. It also sends out the right messages and I'm sure I remember young George Williams saying something to that effect when he signed last month.
Excellent News! Hopefully, he'll get a lot of matchplay this year. While history is littered with young wingers who did not make it, I foresee a promising career. Maybe even someone on this board may soon pick up his Monica. COYW
Someone who - we hope - is going to wear the black and white with such distinction deserves better than having one of us stealing his girlfriend. Let's just hope he keeps her away from John Terry. How did you find out her name?
Great news. My impression of Kaca is that at some stage he may end up as a central midfielder rather than a winger. Any development squad watchers know if he played there in the reserves?
It's a while since he's played for the Reserves Fulhamish. I believe the last time was last December in a 1-1 draw against his old club, Liverpool. He was definitely on the left wing in that game and I'm pretty certain that was his usual position for them. I agree with you though about him developing into a midfield role. A bit of heresy here, but I actually rate him above Frei - well, actually that's a compliment to both.
I'd go with that - going by the little I've seen of Kaca, he seems to have more to his game than Frei. Having said that, there's no reason Frei won't add more to his.
And it's easy to forget how young Frei is - not 19 until November. Could be a big year for the pair of them.
