Just read that Melbourne Heart are trying to recruit JVH to join them as a guest player for the next couple of weeks. It is annoying headline stated former Celtic Striker, no mention of City.I am contacting them to put it right!

Am i the only one who thinks he could do a job in the Championship..... He seemed to like it here no doubt wouldn't want that much wages. Or is this just nostalgia kicking in?

City had better move quick as it seems they expect him to say yes and have him over in a couple of weeks. They look to him to pass on his experience for the young players.
The other Melbourne club Victory have just signed Harry Kewell and Danny Allsop seems to be on the outer.

He was on over £30k a week for us and when he left he signed for the biggest team in Austria(playing in the Europa League) and will still have been on decent money. I've no idea what the Oz clubs pay their marquee signings, but I suspect he'll still be getting double what any City player is getting.

I thought he was good when he was here, good target man and a brilliant finisher, his attitude seemed spot on too. But as OLM says, it's just the wages issue.

Still think he could do a job for us, at the right price of course.

I thought Melbourne was near Pocklington!

Big Jan is in a completely different class to Adestrolla and if he was still with us, he'd be out top scorer by a country mile.

Is a country mile longer than an urban one? <confused>

I agree that he's a quality player but it seems strange to say he'd definitely be our top scorer.

A country mile is twice as long as an urban mile, whilst also being half a fathom.

He wouldn't have to score many to be our top scorer and he has a goal scoring ratio of one every three games, we've played twelve games, that's four goals and OLM wins. <ok>

I too think he'd most likely be top scoreralong with leading the assists chart, and I reckon we'd have scored a fair few more.

I always thought the country mile thing was just a weird figure of speech, that's why I brought it up.

Again, I'm not disagreeing at all on JVoH but I just thought it was an odd thing to say, we all know nothing is for certain in football, particularly this league.

It is, it just means 'a long way', my definition was an attempt at humour.

Unless it's a Greek country mile in which case it's not very much at all.

A useless piece of information but Wyatt Earpp of gun fight at the OK Corral fame originates from Melbourne!

That is a useless piece of information, as he actually originated from Monmouth, Illinois. <laugh>
