Juve - Notts County

Just pondering on what or if, like Notts County, we have a club from another country that we have a connection with. From all I can think it's Atletico Madird, from something about the kits. Am I right?

 

When we say... it's just like watching Brazil... that might be stretching the truth [ok, it's a downright lie], but Saints have a direct connection with Brazilian football, that no other club in the world has. So pick a team..!

 

There's a theory that a group of students from Southampton started up Athletic Bilbao in Spain (who we played in pre-season). They share our kit too, but again I state it is just a theory

Charles William Miller played for Southampton (when we were St Mary's!!), before returning to live in Brazil with two footballs and the Hampshire FA rules with him!! So there we have it, Southampton were responsible for football in Brazil, thus we basically created Pele, Ronaldo, Garrincha, Zico et al. Basically our academy products.

 

And there's the direct connection in a nutshell.

 

I think Sunderland claim a link with Athletic too (the 'O' dropped of course because of the club's English founding) so it's hard to tell, lots of stories surrounding this one.

 

Only Pele played for us though We may have somewhat foolishly let the others migrate elsewhere, but we now have a new "little bird" in Lallana

Athletic bilbao dropped the o as a tribute to saints. I've been told that our docks had connections back in the day. This is also why they place in the red and white stripes.

 

Southampton are Brazil, Brazil are Southampton.

If we are Brazil and Brazil is a country, then ergo Southampton is a country. Cortese should declare us a republic (with the Isle of Wight an off-shore tax haven). Of course, he might prefer us to be a kingdom if only he could think of someone who could be king
