Tony v Towers. Never seen such rubbish. Like watching two kids in the playground. Hopefully this isn't indicative of our talent (or rather lack of).
Towers world ranking is 70 and the guy he was facing was ranked 115. Didn't watch the fight, but heard it was quite entertaining. Seems like you don't agree. If you want high quality boxing watch the best fighter, and the lower weights.
Here you go, a fight from last week, a masterful performance by Rigo, but his opponent didn't seem all that though.
Yep. He looks quite useful. Fast hands, elusive. Couldn't tell how hard he punches because the other chap looks a bit vulnerable.
No, it wasn't entertaining; more like embarrassing. If you get a chance to watch it, I wouldn't bother. Neither knew how to box or fight. Neither could take a punch nor had any ideas how to defend. Towers was out on his feet and most refs would have stopped the fight earlier in Tony's favour. The ref was a joke. It was shambolic. Apparently this Towers joke is some sort of EU Champion. He reckons he learnt a lot tonight. God help us. Hopefully he learned that he should take up another career before he gets seriously hurt.
Kennedy was world ranked. Just that Rigondeaux is sensational. I enjoyed the Towers fight. Not every fight can be a showcase of the sweet science. There has to be a bit of blood and thunder there too.
I enjoy some blood as thunder but preferably mixed with a bit of skill. This Towers chap can't box and he can't fight. He has no chance and is going nowhere.
Ref was a joke and neither fighter is going to ever make the top level.......But to say it was not entertaining is abit far out........Countless knock downs and endless hard face punching.......Loved it, very entertaining indeed i thought...... Not all boxers are technically perfect, but and its a big but...........many heavyweights of this caliber after two rounds just hold on and nothing happens for the whole fight....At least these guys went in and traded toe to toe, and there was constant swings in the fight....... Not a display of perfect boxing, but a good fight to watch..... And to ask if this is indicative of our talent makes you look a bit naive! Surely you know as Pros Price and Fury are the developing talents at heavyweight, not Towers!!!!!! (How could you miss that?) Anthony Joshua is ready to step in aswell when he turns pro. Heavyweight division in Britain looks very promising........ I know it seems like i dont agree with you, but for the most part I do: 1. Ref was pants, especially breaking up the action, giving the impression that the fight was over in Tonys favour 2. Both fighters are going nowhere 3. There was no defence But 9 rounds of face punching and knockdowns is entertaining, I think you are just being a bit cynical because of the lack of class...lol
British and Irish Heavies at present there is one world class fighter. One borderline world level. 4 potential World level fighters. One Euro level, one potential euro level. At least 4 more who would have good battles and pose real problems as gatekeepers for Euro level and that is before you get to the level of Towers/Tom Dallas and even then, they would still pose a significant threat. It is a healthy division.
