Just some thoughts about no striker

It is becoming apparent that when the bigger teams plays Swansea they defend very deep. They allowed Swansea to have the ball. The big teams wait untill we become to eager and have too many players going forward (4-5 times in each match) and then they counterattack with 3-4 extremly fast players.

The bigger teams allow us to keep the ball (which some Swansea fans see as a quality - but passing is nothing unless it is followed by being effective. If you check out our statistic against the bigger teams, they score against us in most matchs, even with an extra midfielder). So no matter how we play, we need atleast a goal or two.

Since we do not have a real striker, we rearly create anything, because the only player inside the box is Michu, and he is covered by the two tall central defenders. The rest of the Swansea players, is placed outside the box, and no one beside Shelvey, have the power to break into the box by himselves. And since we are so very weak, to score from a distance, this striker becomes even more important.

As a dane, it is easy to be too over-positive about Laudrup, but he need to play with one less midfielder and play with a striker, to make room for Michu, and more room to our midfielders, to short pass between the defending opponents players, and therby getting midfielders into the box too create proper goal chances.

A striker is also a defender!.

Unless he's Bony, because the big fella doesn't do much as defending/pressing as say, Danny Graham or Michu.

Agree jokeren <ok> Its as if he don't have the confidence playing big sides of himself and his players like he does against the rest....He makes some odd choices against the big sides where if he was to forget they are a big side and play to our strengths then he and the team would do a lot better....Bony and michu were ready made for arsenal's defence and i bet arsen was pleasantly surprised that bony and michu combination were not playing. In his interview in the week before the match it was something he was worried about and commented how good they were.....Well laudrup unbelievably took that worry away and i bet he could not believe his luck.....and he makes vorm captain <doh> he must have thought all his birthdays and christmases had come all at once...

We will be severely restricting our chances if we try and park the bus Pie. Should be a good game and one where we get back on the winning trail again.

I'd love us to able to park the bus pie ! ...<laugh>

This will be a very tactical game IMO , I would take a point from this game for sure. The games between us have been quite low key but the money you have spent and our defensive worries make you favourite for this one <ok>

Two very good passing teams and IMO both Are a credit to the prem league.

    Question for you.

How much money is going into Southampton These days ? I notice that you have spent well and also alot , your owners i dont know alot about whats the backround down There at st marys ?

I understand the need to rotate the squad but strker pairings such as Michu and Bony need time to gel - playing one of them at a time doesn't do that. When Bony came on on saturday his physicality made the Arsenal defence uneasy we'll never know how good they could be together until we play them. It's a bit of a rebuilding year for us as we need to ease Amat Canas Poz and Bony into the side - I think they are future for us if we can keep them.

Short version, Swiss/German billionaire bought us, then died. Club passed to his daughter. Chairman is an Italian who spent years working on the sports investment desk at Credit Suisse. With any luck, we won't need to spend heavily for a while. Got the spine of a good team, and another crop of good youngsters coming through.

7 Premier League clubs are British-owned. Actually more than I thought.

On topic, does anyone have the stats for goals with/without Bony on the pitch? I think it's still only three when he's not on .
