I don't get your logic. Bad things are fine as long as worse things are happening? Its fine if I slap a child, because someone might be killed in an earthquake elsewhere? Crime and punishment can't ignore 'minor' offences.
I don't think he quite meant it like that Colly. It's not a justification, more of an effort to add perspective.
I agree with him, but there is no need for the player to attack a defenceless, innocent creature. Two wrongs do not make a right, but there are more serious issues to consider.

I don't personally abuse animals, nor do I support the abuse of animals, but I personally feel more strongly about the abuse of children then the abuse of animals.
