That when the tories sweep into power early tomorrow morning, Maggie Thatcher will no doubt find a new lease of life and grace the nation with her presence for at least the next decade <ok>

    Roll on the good years

It would be the best chance for independence. Hopefully it will fail at the 1st hurdle. I would move away if Scotland was to gain independence from th union

    Just think about it ML

When you turn on the 10 o'clock news in a few weeks time and you hear the presenters talk about how 'WE' got on during the World Cup that day for 20 minutes of the 30 minute show, when you see the front page of the Sun with an Obama style portrait of Cameron on the front - a guy nobody outside of Southern England will vote for, when you see yesterday's Sun - the biggest selling newspaper in Britain - give you Simon Cowell's opinion on the election on the front page.

You know the Republic makes sense.

your economy's in even worst nick than ours and scottish people love the dole even more. within 6 years we'd be greece only with fatter, slower rioters. in the rain.

The Irish Republic's economy is in recession, but even on it's downward trend it's still got a far higher GDP than Scotland with much higher individual wealth.

The Irish Republic also has less debt as a proportion of it's GDP than Britain. At the moment the Republic has about 58% public debt to GDP, Britain is at 68%. The only reason the Irish Republic is having more trouble with this debt that Britain is that it's nowhere near as big and therefore more likely to default.

In saying this Ireland went through 70 years of struggling before it started overtaking Britain's average wealth per individual. No doubt Scotland would struggle at first too, but probably pick up far quicker since it's starting from a far wealthier state than Ireland was in.

Only 1,000 people in Greece declare incomes of over €100,000 a year. In a rich neighbourhood of Athens only 130 declared having pools for council tax reasons, when the Council did a Google earth they counted 13,500 <laugh>
