MARCOS Angeleri could beat Asamoah Gyan to the Stadium of Light exit door, with the Argentine closing in on a return to his homeland. Angeleriâs former club Estudiantes are ready to end the 29-year-oldâs miserable two-year spell on Wearside, with reports in Argentina suggesting the deal could be wrapped up this week. The protracted switch has moved a step closer after Estudiantes entered into discussions with River Plate over the sale of right-back Gabriel Mercado. Angeleri, who has spent the last month training with his old employers, is seen as the ideal replacement, with Sunderland more than happy to give the go-ahead for the 29-year-oldâs departure. ......................................... NEW Wolves boss Stale Solbakken insists he wants to keep Steven Fletcher at Molineux, although he admits the financial pressures of life in the Championship may force the strikerâs sale. Sunderland target Fletcher is expected to return for pre-season training next week with last yearâs Premier League basement boys, with the Scot no closer to the exit door. Wolves have privately stressed that they are yet to receive even an enquiry for the 25-year-old, who they are not willing to let go for under £10million. Fletcher has been linked with Sunderland throughout the summer and the former Burnley man is understood to be aware of the interest from the Black Cats .............................................................. CRAIG Gordon is training with Hearts after turning down the chance to join SPL champions Celtic. Released Sunderland keeper Gordon was reportedly offered a three-year deal by Celtic last week, only to reject the deal with Neil Lennonâs side. Celtic have subsequently signed Newcastle Unitedâs Fraser Forster on a permanent deal after the Hexham-born stopper spent last season on loan at Parkhead. Gordon will now look to explore options both abroad and in the Premier League, where he has been linked to the likes of Wigan, West Brom and Arsenal. In the meantime, Gordon is working with former club Hearts during pre-season after the Tynecastle club offered the 29-year-old the chance to train while he bids to find a new deal.
