I'm putting up **** all decorations. We are celebrating the birth of our Lord. None of this hypocritical commercialised bullshit.
Spot on ER. I'd ban the buying of presents and all the other cliched nonsense that accompanies Christmas. Then bring back the rope for anyone who tries celebrating it. We'd keep the king george chase on boxing day of course.
I'm disgusted that you can mock the birth of Our Lord in this juvenile manner. He died for all our sins, you know. Sometimes I wonder why he bothered.
After your trafic death last night, he was talking about the impending bluebottles feasting on your rotting corpse. ... Oh, by the way -- R.I.P.
Dan. I've edited your post to make it a little more 'charitable.' I can accept that gifts are part of Christmas - as per the stable scene and the three wise men bearing gifts for Jesus....but I believe that the precedent here was to relate the giving of gifts to small children - and that, in my opinion, is how it should be. Since my boys became 'adults' I told my family that we should no longer buy expensive crap, specifically manufactured for Christmas, for the mutual exchange of said crap. I suggested that we should use the equivalent amount we would otherwise waste on 'presents' and donate it to charities - especially where charities are working to ensure that starving people get one decent meal a year. Initially I received a cool response - before a little thought was applied - then got their backing - and that's what I now do each Christmas ( and several times throughout the year )
