...until I run with the Olympic Torch! Excitement is building now, and it all feels a bit surreal at the moment! Cant wait for the day, but at the same time dont want it to come too soon! If anyone wants to watch me run, im running at 10:25am on Tuesday! You can watch via www.bbc.co.uk/torchrelay
Good luck Judo...I will be watching on the live thread. Last week the torch came to Oxford on the Monday, stayed overnight and left in the morning. I saw it come and I saw it go.....and on the Monday evening I was given a ticket to go see the flame celebration/cauldron lighting in the Parks. Whilst I was there I met one of the torch bearers and he allowed me to have my photo taken holding it. I must say I felt so proud just to hold it, still feel giddy now...what you must feel like to run with it, I cannot imagine, you are so lucky.. I think a piece of advice, if you will accept it from me....DON'T DO IT TOO QUICKLY...it goes over so fast...enjoy the experience. The people who come to watch you, and they were 6 deep in places in Oxford, are there to see you and the torch and they don't want you wizzing past. I will be watching you from afar...Enjoy
Saw it in Winchester. Just brilliant. I can say no more than Beth. You have earned the honour, I'm sure. So feel proud and enjoy.
Good luck, very exciting! What Beth said, take your time an cherish the moment. I'll try and tune in, have to see our very own Not606 QPR torch bearer
Good luck mate, I'll be watching from the other side of the world in "upside down-land" Who'd of thought that 20 years ago eh?
All the best mate, have a great time and post some photos when it's done... I was driving along the A25 between Dorking and Westerham yesterday and there were signs up for the torch on the 17th & 20th at various places...
Good luck in your moment of glory mate. Can i be nosy and ask how you were picked ? (I might of missed it if mentioned before). I presume it is due to charity or social work.
I have been thinking exactly the same! I am going to walk it to make it last that bit longer! Plus as you say, it benefits those who have come out to watch the torch as they see it for a bit longer!
Thanks everyone, it is a massive honour! Unfortunatley I cant wear a QPR shirt as I have to wear the white uniform! And any shirt underneath has to be white! Staines, I was nominated by a parent at my judo club for all the voluntary coaching work I do at the club and have done for the past 5/6 years now. Somehow I managed to keep it all going while at uni and having a part time job! Still cant believe it is happening really!
Some of you may know that Judo is my son. Now I dont want to embarass him but I just want to say how proud all of his family and friends are of him. Trust me he fully deserves his moment of glory for all the good things he does for others and for his hard work and effort. Enjoy the moment son, you can buy me a beer afterwards.
