Chant for the Udders game. As reported in the HDM the march will now be from the train station to the library and not to the stadium.

HULL City supporters angry at "Draconian" travel restrictions imposed by West Yorkshire Police have been asked not to march on Huddersfield Town's stadium.
Instead, up to 1,000 supporters who believe they have wrongly been branded hooligans, are expected to march to the town's central library before the match on Saturday, March 30.

Fans wishing to attend the match have been told to use official Hull City coaches that will depart from the KC Stadium or park at Hartshead Moor Services on the M62, collect their tickets and be driven to John Smith's Stadium on shuttle buses. Plans for the protest march have now been finalised by a number of Hull City supporters' groups who have formed a consortium.

Chris Smith, spokesman for the Hull City Official Supporters' Club, said: "We made sensitive enquiries to West Yorkshire Police about marching to the John Smith's Stadium. "But officers were, shall we say, less than lukewarm with that idea. "So we will be forming up outside Huddersfield train station at 1.45pm, moving off at 2pm and we expect to reach the library at 2.30pm."

In front of the library, Louis Cooper, the 15-year-old Tigers fan who has hired a solicitor to threaten police with legal action for perceived discrimination, will address fans.
Mr Smith, who says he wants the march to be "peaceful with a carnival atmosphere", said: "The timing of the march will enable fans to get to the service station to board buses to the stadium."
Fans are asked to take along placards.

"I will be taking a sign that states I am a retired town clerk – not a football hooligan," said Mr Smith, who also requests fans bring soft drinks. "We want the public to see us drinking soft drinks – not alcoholic ones."

Inside the ground, 100 T-shirts denouncing the travel restrictions will be distributed ahead of the game, which kicks off at 5.20pm.

Earlier this week, Hull City, in a strong-worded statement, accused West Yorkshire Police – who have put the match in its top security category – of an "unpalatable slur" on the club and labelled the restrictions "draconian".

I agree that it is very frustrating and does diminish the effect everyone who wishes to partake hoped for. To be fair, Mel more or less said this would be the case the other day. I think it also highlights that the WYP will change as suits their fancy and that nothing certain was arranged as was thought.
What confuses me is that it seems like the job is all going to be done a good 2 hours before kick-off, so is the banner still being passed over? If 1000 turn up that will be an excellent turn-out.

Makes sense as i fear the march could be hi-jacked by Just Trouble Makers. A protest is a protest where ever it is. WYP are well in the brown stuff with most and the fact they wont admit as much just sums them up. <ok>

A 15 year old kid is addressing the fans- bloody hell, if only all 15 yr olds in Hull were this obsessed with City, and he lives in Manchester.

    Good on him.

Dunno about all that soft drinks malarky- do they want us to bring a pack up and all?

I think it might be more to do with his Dad, let's face it a 15 year old doesn't have the money to hire a lawyer for a trivial lawsuit or to travel to every game for that matter.

NOT. Although a few are going to take the banner, most are dispersing for drinks all over West Yorkshire.

I suspect the route change to the library is just a spoiler tactic by the WYP - hoping that protesting outside a library will be less popular and therefore provoke a smaller attendance by protestors. No doubt the **** who thought of it is also taking the piss, ie. if only a few turn up the joke will be that it could have taken place inside the library.
Maybe the best thing would be if the marchers walk through the city centre at the pace of a Nottm Forest sub (thousands of shoe laces needing tying every few minutes etc). Then the protest will draw more attention in busy areas and cause the WYP more difficulty to gag.
I like the idea that the 15 year old lad will be addressing the demo because that is an interesting sub-plot story that the Press/Media might like to pick up on. An issue like this always gets more attention if there is a human figure at the centre to focus on.

Edit; Anyone dealing with the Press (sorry OLM - probably you again) should highlight the 15 year olds part as a bit of a sweetener to what otherwise could be seen as just another demonstration.

Everyone should take a bottle of kids bubbles to blow or Fairy Liquid or something. What about 10,000 black and amber balloons. Nice and peaceful but still taking the piss out of WYP and making a point.

According to section 87a of the Public Order Act 1994 it is an offence to blow soap bubbles in a public place unless you have sought and gained the permission of the local police authority, in this case West Yorkshie Police. Other acts that are prohibited are the releasing of any lighter than air devices, smiling, laughing and any activity involving humour. The offence carries an automatic on the spot fisting and the destruction of any device viewed by Officers as being remotely funny.
Reports in the media are suggesting a new phrase has been heard in the region "Hull, Hell and Huddersfield!"

I think turning up with any object remotely attractive to kids in your pocket, will not go down to well with the WYP, what with the problems they are having because of Saville.

Huddersfield library area is usually quite quiet. The entrance of the Kingsgate might have been better. Though the march will go along New Street which is probably the next busiest street.
