To all on the board..including CB ..I appologise for my outburst unreservedly.... Mixing all day drinking, watching qpr die at 3am and then going on-line is not the best combination. Mods, i'll accept what ever you want to dish out...Cerny..my opinion of you still stands..... you may (claim to be) a qpr fan....but personally, i dont see it. Let me know how your spelling goes after an all day session..? Hope that settles things PS..CB...whats the deals with your make who is a coke head in Sweenys?..let me know please...or at least repost what your on about?...thanx
QL- While your outburst was maybe a tad OTT it was totally understandable due to provocation. Well done though for having the guts to stand up apologise. I assume when CB talks about Sweenys ,it must be something to be with Martin Rowlands who i was told yesterday owns or is part owner of the bar in Ruislip. Might be wrong though 'cos to be honest CB talks such bollox you need a degree to understand what he means.
And another... Very apt, as we seem to be heading for our PL 'sundown'. Great track though...
Thnks for that - reminds me of the Kursaal in Southend in 73 - saw them with Stacy dancing - sadly the local council made her wear a body stocking. Saw Pink Fairies there too - another band from your neck of the woods...............good times ...............I am an old fart ................it is true.............
The brilliant Pink Fairies, one of their roadies lived in our commune in 1972...
Ah Stacey. Just before my time unfortunately. I've seen clips though. Would've loved to have seen some of those early seventies concerts. Thanks for that Sooperhoop. At least you didn't post Freefall.
For those who miss Stacia... She was a big girl wasn't she?...
Superhoop, Great time yes? I was in the 60`s with the flowerpower times! Never thought you were one of us!!!!!!!!!!!!! Keep the faith old pal!
Yes James, 1970-73 were a bit of a 'haze' to me, great time to be a teenager, can't remember too much football at that time but promotion back to Division One brought me back...
Wow glad to know there are a few 'Hawkwind' fans here. They are still going strong and play a winter solstice show every December (Last year at Shepherds Bush Empire). An amazing band who never fail to light up your senses in all ways possible. Would recommend anyone on here to go and see them in December....you wont be dissapointed
Haven't seen them since The Levitation tour. Bob Calvert was always the main one for me. Thought they were never the same after he'd gone. The Charisma stuff was (and still is) brilliant. Thanks to you lot spent my afternoon listening to QS&C, 25YO, ASAM, PXR5 and Warrior. Happy Days.
It must be my age but I always thought their debut album was their best. It was the first record I ever heard on headphones in the original Virgin Records shop in Oxford Street, no other shop had the headphone facility in 1972. The opening track, 'Hurry on Sundown' at full blast on a set of cans blew me away, great days...
The point about age is a good one. I first got into them through Quark, Strangeness and Charm, and worked my way back so to speak, and, although the early stuff is good it doesn't quite have the same resonance for me. Maybe because it was just that bit less immediate to me at the time if that makes sense.
Very true, first impressions are often the big 'hook' in music. The Ladbroke Grove scene in the early 70s was so vibrant they even organised their own tour known as 'The Greasy Truckers' which featured Hawkwind, Pink Fairies, Man and several other underground bands of the time via United Artists record label...
