Cold. Wet. Trains. Hours. Food. No bloody burgers. Average atmosphere. Not the most enjoyable derby match sadly, not poor but just an average day all round, tempered by a comfortable victory. I have also decided to set up a Man of the Match poll for each game on my post-match ratings thread, similar to B&A. Please vote - even if you only listened on the Radio!
Neal: 7 - Good, competent handling, organised the defence well (apart from when Regan ignored his shout and let a Hairyfurd winger get the ball in our area). Kicking a little disappointing.
Regan: 6.5 - Worked hard, but had some shaky moments. However, they were pretty much accounted for by some decent tackles.
Sharps: 7.5 - Dominant in the air, another flawless performance from the skipper, possibly on his way back to top form?
Grandison: 7.5 - Built on his performance last week with another composed game at centre-half, and his pace got us out of jail on one occasion.
Jacobson: 8 - Fantastic. He was like a machine, a fantastic cross for the first goal and brilliant defending. There was also a bizzare incident with a throw-in.
D. McAllister: 7 - Got stuck in, worked hard and held the midfield together nicely. Had a few long shots that looked promising but were blocked.
Richards: 7.5 - Superb as usual. Working hard, always available for the simple pass and a sublime ball through for Collins' goal.
Taylor: 6.5 - Worked hard, didn't really produce much bar one burst early on. Same old story, sadly. He seems to have gone backwards from last season.
Wright: 6.5 - A couple of nice touches, couple of ****e touches. Struggled to get involved.
Gornell: 8 - His first touch was sublime today. Absolutely delightful. Worked hard, linked nicely with Collins and was good value for his goal.
Collins: 8.5 - Another brilliant performance. Stunning finish, excellent work rate. Only denied a second by a fantastic Bartlett save. Some good footwork, only criticism was that he was a little too greedy.
