Had a look at the "punt" options for City for something to run through this coming season, but there's not a lot of options like last year in the Championship when there were multiple possibilities. Staying up/going down offerings are too short and would tie up a lot of dosh for 9 months to get a decent return - around even money for not going down is fair enough, but hardly worthwhile for a long term commitment. At the other end of the spectrum the odds are long, but I can't see us in the Champion's League next season - not yet anyway...... Champions, top 4 or even top 6 maybe a bit too far even for Warnock, but wait a minute - do you thnk we might sneak into the top half? Offered @ 14/1 I think that'll be my long term bet to run for this season. 50 quid on the nose just gone on - let's see how the cash out (if any) runs from game to game. Do you think I'll pick up £750 next May?
Can't see us finishing in the top half Sparkey and to be honest I'd take fourth from bottom now. Okay I've got my pessimistic hat on like I do at the start of every season and I thought we would finish outside the play-offs at the start of last season, so hey what do I know? I don't think we have a good enough squad to compete seriously at the top level but we have a manager who's seen and done it all and hopefully he can get us some results. I would be absolutely delighted if we stay up and kick on from there.
Any decent bets on the number of points we'll get come the end of the season? Spread betting could be a bit risky though.
14/1 not bad odds for us in the top 10. Top 6 are already filled but the other 4 could be anyone. I might put £10 on myself.
That was my take on it Dai - other than the top half dozen, it's an open book. 4 places up for grabs and any 4 of the other 14 could fill them. @ 14/1 on City it's a half decent punt.
@Dai Jones - Dai, something else that might interest you (and others). Only other punt of interest on City I'd seen somewhere was an offer of 5/2 against any City player scoring double figures for the season, but it definitely wasn't on B365, the only site I use. Asked them but they came back and said it was a market they hadn't considered and declined to offer any odds - so I had a look around - it's on BetVictor. I thought.....hmmm...Zohore/Hoilett/Reid/Murphy/Paterson and even Madine - now there's a possibility it could happen so I opened an account with them just for that and did the deed this morning. Another "cash out" to progress for the thread through the season. - that was £100 of my (historically) hard earned money to return £350 - I expect to pick up my winnings by Christmas.........
I think you want to be looking at the odds on staying up, that's about as good as it get's for you old sparkey, perhaps some Viagra may help though!!.........
@phil...what are the various odds for the Swans...such as Champions, automatic, top six and up by any route? We (vicariously) got great odds last season and a great payout.
Furter - well they're much shorter odds than us this time last year to go up by all routes, so they shouldn't have a problem should they?. The interesting thing is they're @ 40/1 to be relegated - that's got to be worth a punt. In fact I might give that a go and risk a tenner.
I've had a pound on the Jerks to go down @33/1. And I've done a pound each way accumulator Liverpool Derby Sunderland and Notts County to all finish in top 2 @2,997/1.
I'm not sure what you get for a Swansea promotion coupled with a Cardiff relegation, but that is a probably payout this season
Well Temple, it's 4/1 on the Swans being promoted and 4/6 on us going down - so that's 7.33/1 for the double. Do you fancy it?
On that basis what's the odds of the double of us staying up and the swans not getting promoted. There might be some movement on the swans odd given their transfer window.
We are 6/5 to stay up - that's a tidy bet if you can afford to tie up a decent amount of money for 9 months to get a worthwhile return - but no market for Swans "not getting promoted", so the double is not on.
