http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/9063635.Angry_Watford_want_answers_from_the_FA/ref=twt/ So the local girls dont have a right to play football !!!That is the message the FA are sending out! Lets hope this decision in overturned as it is sexist in the extreme!
I've thought long and hard about whether it's acceptable to be flippant about this. But truly, the best explanation I can think of is that with Sepp Blatter back in power, national associations have been instructed not to spend money on girls' kits, in the hope that they will eventually end up in tighter clothing. Utter disgrace.
good one NNW! However Arsenal get a license ,we dont and which is the more renowned family and community club ? I think it sucks! Yes its not that important to us here , but again it seems like because we are not in the prem we can be walked all over! I am glad the club is disputing the decision!
Its nothing to do with sexist its elitism and the corrupt FA pandering to their pets as usual the whole of football management sucks. The clubs are as bad as the FA and dogs in terms of cover up network. Very angry with football at the moment
I don't begrudge Arsenal getting funding. Firstly because they are one of the strongest women's sides in Europe. Secondly because they play in Borehamwood and train in Hatfield. Barnet (historically in Hertfordshire), are also in the Premier League. Using the old boundaries, Hertfordshire is probably the most competitive county in English women's football. It is certainly number one when it comes to developing young talent. So what do the FA do? Build on that perhaps? Use the county as a base from which to develop girls who might be good enough to form the core of a world cup winning side? No. They tell one of the country's pioneers of youth football for both sexes, in no uncertain terms, that we have to cut the quality of provision to girls. Sexist, short sighted, moneygrabbing bastards.
This really, really, pisses me off. I have e-mailed the FA (don't expect a reply, but if enough people at the grass roots get on their case, you never know) The contact page for the FA: http://www.thefa.com/TheFA/WhoWeAre/ContactUs I am writing to express my huge disappointment with the decision to strip Watford FC of CE status for its ladies side. I'm afraid it smacks of the typical elitism and favouritism for the bigger clubs at the expense of the smaller clubs; notwithstanding Watford's exceptional track record in the development of youth and female footballers, from the club's statement it would appear that they met all of the original criteria for CE status, only for those criteria to be changed during the process without all clubs being informed. The recently proposed changes to the Academy system also hint at the favouring of the moneyed, often irresponsibly spending clubs over those clubs with more modest means and more responsible financial models. I would urge the FA to reconsider this decision if the current view of the organisation as incompetent, and biased in the extreme (if not actually corrupt) is not to be further compounded at the grass roots of football all over the country. Yours in hope rather than expectation of a considered rather than pro-forma response
Will email them tomorrow, by which time I will hopefully feel able to write something without expletives.
