Not necessarily for the Wigan game, but in general. We've had a problem with the right wing for some time. Routledge couldnt perform in the prem, Guthrie and Barton didnt provide any width despite being good crossers, Obertan looks uneasy, Marveaux is left footed. Has the answer been there all along?

    Krul
    Simpson Taylor Colo Santon
    Cabaye Tiote
    Raylor----Benny----Jonas
    Ba

Raylor is a natural wide player, and could cover Simpson adequately (more than any of the previous RWs), can put in a brilliant cross and has shown us what he can do this season.

Again, I'm not suggesting this for the Wigan game, just think it would work really well. Any other ideas for "alternate" line ups you think would work?

Would work well, but think we want to stick a fast player on the right to stretch teams - hench why Obertan plays lol

I think this would work when all fit and on fire:

    Krul

    Santon - Taylor - Colo - Ferguson

    Tiote - Cabaye

Marveaux - Ben Arfa - Jonas

    Ba

Ferguson at left back to give us natural left footer on the left and think would be great to have a left and a right footer on both flanks to scare teams to death

I would prefer a Right Winger, with pace and can cross.

Like Obertan and Routledge, have loads of pace and can't cross at all, and then Raylor has an excellent cross but he doesn't have the best pace. There's always gotta be something missing lol.

Yeah Obertan does give us something Barton never could which is pace, brings a whole new dimension to the team even though Barton is a better player. Raylor's not that quick but he wouldnt need to beat players to cross the ball. Cant wait for Marveaux.

Looks like Marveaux is a lovely mix of pace and crossing, shame we have 2 quality left wingers and no outstanding RWs (although I'm prepared to be patient with Obertan).

    That could actually be decent.
Saying that, if we wanted that type of player there we might as well of kept Barton (Theoretically speaking).

Like what has been mentioned, would rather a pacey winger up there instead.

True, but Barton wasnt a natural wide player and he did the Guthrie thing of cutting inside a lot and leaving Simpson exposed as well as playing loads of hoofball (which lessened after Carroll left, admittedly). You also knew he was a much better player in the centre, which was annoying.

    People forget Ober's only 22.
He could mature just like Jonas did and probably has much more potential.

In my eyes, he's done incredibly well to come from being a fringe player to suddenly starting every game.

Definetly a centre mid like. Did well on the right for most of the time, but in the end started to look like a centre mid playing on the wing

It's a shame, the guy's only 22 and still adjusting to how we play, like not knowing when to keep the ball or take on his man. Just because Cabaye adapted so quickly doesnt mean he will.

Yeah, also he is used to playing for Man Utd's reserves all of the time. Bit of leap up and didn't he play on the left a lot when got a game for Man Utd? Played as a striker for their reserve game against us too

Yeah they gave him a game every month or so and it could have been anywhere. Needs to get used to regular games.

I actually really like that, especially for the two away games in Manchester.

Against Stoke where we'd be less defensive I'd rather see Obertan on the wing though, and we should mostly play 4-4-2 at home if we can.
