If Fabregas had stayed ... how amazing would it have been to have Fabregas playing with Van Persie in this kind of form?

I don't know. I always felt that there was something not quite working when Fabregas was in the team. I can't put my finger on it, but although he was brilliant, something always seemed to be amiss. Whether it was just that everyone passed the ball to him and said "Right then, do something brilliant" or whatever, I couldn't work it out.

It seems we have a better chemistry just now for some reason, and maybe it wasn't his fault, and we would be better with him, but there is a chance that we wouldn't.

TT - agreed- a bit like the last days of Henry the first time around. The rest expected him to win everything on his own.

<doh> some people seriously do start to write some crazyyyyyyyyy things when we go on good form, take it easy will you? To say Fabregas wasn't quite working for the team and we have better chemistry is utter horse sh!t, Fabregas had excellent chemistry with the team, and made things happen on the pitch in a brilliant manner, it would have been fantastic had he been with us this season with RVP.

Not saying he wouldn't - just saying that there is a chance he wouldn't. Just like the midfield might not have worked with Rosicky and him in there together - who knows?

Actually, Fabregas and Rosicky used to work perfectly together in the midfield, and i'm talking about the Rosicky who was on top form, the Rosicky we are also starting to see again now. Also for most of the season it's been Ramsey in midfield over Rosicky, how on earth can anyone even imagine that Fabregas wouldn't have brought more than Ramsey? We would have been a much stronger team had Fabregas been in the role of Ramsey this season. If Fabregas was with us this season we would have probably been title challengers as he would have been able to make the important plays we needed in games were we just found it tough to get going.

Fabregas' heart wasn't really with us during his last few years.. he was always distracted by Barca.

many successful teams are made up of team-players - not 'stars'.
We are lucky right now - we have RVP and a great team spirit.

Fabregas as Arsenal captain was bad idea. It just did not work. Now we have a spine of senior, intelligent players who seem to be dedicated and get along very well - Vermaelen, Arteta and RVP. This is a more natural balance in the dressing room, or a better chemistry, as TT puts it. Having said that one can not underestimate Rosicky, who is the only true creative attacking midfielder left in the squad. We need another one.

    I agree to an extent.

it was the same with henry just before he left you could clearly see everyone get the ball and think "right henry" even if he had a few players on him
and when he left, we came inches from winning the title with denilson, adebayor, diaby, eduardo etc

and it was similar, although not as much with fabregas, but when we were down and out it became more apparent.

But then again having someone with such pure ability and class and fabregas you just can't say no!
especially with RVP scoring near enough every game! and OXO, Gervinho, walcott etc making runs with pace, urgency and ability would be immense!

even without RVP being so amazing right now, fabregas with rosicky on form and oxo would be a sight to see

  11. I don't think Fabregas's heart was entirely in it in his final year with us. Yes there were the flashes of brilliance but from January onwards he was largely absent and like a number of members here I had concerns about his style of leadership. RvP brings the team together better than Cesc and for all Cesc says about loving Arsenal, I believe RvP embodies that a lot more.

To be fair, that's something you could level at pretty much the whole squad in last season's run-in.
