can i ask how many of you actually think leon best is going to be a good striker for us this year?

i just want to know as ive seen alot of negative comments surrounding him and i think its very unfair, ever since we gave him his chance hes not stopped scoring? im not 100% sure of his record but its a pretty good one, and i think could do well for us this year with good creative midfielders behind him, hes a great finisher, but he does lack abit of pace... im just intrested to see who thinks he could get up to 15 goals this year or maybe more,

so how many goals do you think besty could get this year?

 

I've put 10-14. Although really it all depends on how long he's fit for and how often he starts

 

If he starts enough I can see 10-14, more likely to be 6-9 I think, although I'd love to be proven wrong.

 

6-9, good player but need a more consistent striker, same with Ba.

 

I've got 6-9. Just think he won't be good enough to get anymore. Would love it if I was proved wrong though!

 

Put 6-9 purely because I can see Pardew playing Ameobi over him

 

He has a good consistent goalscoring record so far. If he stays fit and partnered with Ba we could have a deadly partnership on our hands.

 

If he plays consistently then he should get 10-15 goals , which is not bad at all.

I think players like Leon Best will suffer from being underrated no matter what they do – because they almost fall into an unfortunate bracket where people can't or refuse to believe they are any good (including many Newcastle fans).

Mainly because A) They didn't command an obscene price tag, B) Perhaps have had numerous spells at unfashionable or lower league clubs without setting the world on fire, C) Doesn't qualify for potential England duty and D) Currently plays for NUFC

The football pundits at the moment would struggle to give him any kudos for hitting 20 goals this season for that final reason...

 

I'd also add they didn't start well. Someone like Gutierrez had an amazing first few games but since he's been good yet some people still rave about him as a great player

I just believe Best is a Championship striker. He is always offside, I get pissed off how often he is

PS: I honestly think he can get that as long as he stays fit and plays all our games!

Judging by his record and the fact that we have 26 games against teams outside the top 6 (ie: teams he's good against) then i don't see why not

 

10-14 for me if he starts regularly and isn't partnered with Shola or Lover.

 

I think he's a championship striker. Championship strikers will still get some goals in the Prem, but I would put him in the same bracket as Ebanks-Blake or Cameron Jerome. He limits the team in other ways with his lack of pace. I would say he's a good squad player though! 6-9 goals Hope I'm wrong though!

 

Best is a talented striker with an unfortunate habit of forgetting the offside rule. When played right though he can create space for himself and has a decent finish on him. Depending on who he plays with he'll either get 6-9 goals or 10-14
