Supposedly Lijnders is going as well which seems strange as he seemed to being primed to take over.

    Aw, ****.

He's done an amazing job, but what a terrible time to announce this. Why not wait till the end of the season?

Well... that's surprising. I have absolutely no idea who should take over. Massive shoes to fill. Whatever happens this season, he leaves a legend. Surely one our most transformative managers ever.

To be honest I could see it coming, not so much this season but certainly soon. You could tell by his energy in interviews and press conferences, which he even cited.

got to admit to being surprised as he had 2 years left on his contract .
Dreadful news as we have relied so much on Jurgen .

I hope I'm wrong, but I fear this might be the end of our ability to challenge at the very top - for now at least.
Better win the league this year, then.
Klopp is a rarity, it's not just about tactical expertise, it's the relationship he has with the players and the ability to get the best out of them. For the first time in decades the club has felt like a family again, with everyone working for each other. I can't think of anyone else who has the ability to instil that in a group.
I sincerely hope Stevie isn't in line for the job.

IMO I was surprised he stayed this long in the first place and signed the contract he did to run out 2026.

he is in effect saying he can't hack this for one further year.

people wanting him to stay forever I always consider as a bit selfish as he's working himself into the ground for us.

I just really want a spectacular send off for him and xabi Alonso to come in!

Just watched the full video. We're going to miss him. Let's win everything and give him the send off her deserves.

You just can't imagine the stresses and strains managing a top club puts on someone.

Klopp spoke years ago about succession on his departure.........we'll be ok :(

    I kind of agree.

Klopp is special and we've definitely been overachieving, certainly compared to everyone else apart from City. I really hope we have someone lined up.
Xabi would seem a good fit, but I'm not convinced he's leaving Leverkusen just yet.

I am willing to bet it won't be Stevie.

suggests that they already have his successor in place?

What a ride it’s been. Let’s hope the man gets the silverware send off that he deserves. I have nothing but love and admiration for him for the way that he has transformed our club.

    huge boots to fill.

    No chance it's Gerrard.

Could be Xabi, but that's quite the risk for both parties - he's not that experienced yet.

Like Luvvy said on the PL forum, I think it will be Alonso, unless Real come in for him.
As a Spanish football manager that has to be the dream job.

If not Alonso, who, hypothetically would you guys want? Jose is free <whistle>

Yeah I worry a bit about players like Gravenberch as an example whose career could go either way at this point. It felt like he was under the right manager to fulfill his potential.

Not really sure who I would like to succeed klopp yet, but it won't be Stevie. I'd be open to Alonso or De Zerbi.
