A POLICEMAN cousin of Premier League ace Darren Bent has been arrested on suspicion of stealing cash and jewellery from the DEAD. PC Richard Bent, 28, was held as detectives investigated a string of high-value thefts from crime victims who passed away. Cops are also probing the theft of goods from the officer’s central London police station. Sharon, my aunt, lives in California and is a big supporter of the LA Lakers and that’s always a source of banter between us.” A Scotland Yard spokesman said: “Officers from the Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards arrested a male police officer on suspicion of theft from the Metropolitan Police Service on July 13, 2012. “He was subsequently arrested in connection with a further count of theft. He has been bailed to return on October 10, 2012. “The arrested officer is a PC based in Westminster.” Scotland Yard said the officer had been suspended on July 14 and that the investigation into him was being supervised by the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
