This has to be the largest blow to the club so far. What of course it doesn't say is why. Did he go because he wasn't wanted? Was he pushed in other words? Has he had enough of trying to keep the good ship afloat? Has he disagreed with something we know nothing of, and left of his own accord?

Whatever it is needs to be explained, but will it be?

Unfortunately for us fans, I think Winter has too much class to chit-chat about the shortcomings of the club's current ownership in the immediate aftermath of his departure, even if he feels that it is justified. Hopefully once Dasani has gone we will hear his side of the story.

I wish him the very the best. Preferably not at another Championship club though.

Shame, as I always saw him as competent and that's not a trait you normally see in football boardrooms.

It has been very quiet for a number of weeks with nothing being said by either him or GT. I have had a feeling based on nothing, just a feeling, that something was going on in the boardroom. Then I dismissed it as the holiday season at the club. To leave with immediate effect seems to suggest that there has been a bust up.

Good luck to JW, you have worked hard.

Monday: The player most likely to develop into someone capable of raising an Ashley Young type fee is sold for £1m. Arguably his market worth if he doesn't get any better, but you would expect to get an over-the-odds fee for a player with such blatant potential.
Tuesday: Star striker sold for less than what equivalent, lower scoring players at other clubs are being lined up for.
Wednesday: A man who has served us very well in the boardroom during some of our very darkest days, and who had a strong working relationship with Malky, leaves the club without comment.

And I am certainly not suggesting that Winter planned this week. I know I'm using an explosive word here, but his integrity is up there with that of anyone at this football club.

Whilst it might be premature that he has resigned, I thought it had been said when the takeover was happening that he would leave at some stage but that GT would stay on?

I thought there was a clause in the takeover agreement that Bazini couldn't sack JW or GT, or the Bonds would default and become immediately repayable. ? If that is true, he must have walked.

Does not look good -do the people behind Bazini have their own man to put in?

I wonder whether Dasani is about to get a new job.

We have no way of knowing whether he would be earning more or less than Mark Ashton used to.

Well Mr.B came up with money that none of us thought that he had. Maybe he has raided his piggy bank again and is going to repay the bonds.

I`m sure if Julian wanted to leave he would have announced it and worked notice! There must have been a bust up and he feels he cant work with baz !If this is the case, the future looks bleak!

I'm definatly sure there was something at the time that said Julian Winter would be leaving if the takeover went through.

The Secured Bonds are subject to a standard set of events of default (“Events of Default”) including
non-payment, cross-default and insolvency. The termination of the appointment of Julian Winter,
Graham Taylor, Stuart Timperley or David Fransen as a director of Watford Leisure or the Club also
comprises an Event of Default. The occurrence of an Event of Default allows any Bondholder to
declare his Secured Bonds immediately due and payable.

    Chief Executive Officer
    Julian Winter
Mr Winter entered into a service agreement with the Club on 1 July 2010. Under the terms of his
service agreement, Mr Winter’s appointment is terminable by Mr Winter or by Watford Leisure on
twelve months’ written notice. Mr Winter receives a salary of £155,000 per annum payable monthly
in arrears and is entitled to 25 working days’ holiday in each year (plus public holidays). The service
agreement also provides that Watford Leisure shall make a contribution to Mr Winter’s personal
pension plan, provide Mr Winter with private medical insurance and provide Mr Winter with a
company car allowance. The service agreement includes provision for pay in lieu of notice.

Winter's departure is quite simple. It wasn't planned and he will have signed a gagging order - we will not hear what happened officially, but its clear this is not a good development.

Baz will no doubt appoint that granny who said "I don't know what he wants me to do". Its quite simple really.

She will keep the books as she has experience of keeping them for her hairdressers.

Many on here wished that David Franson had been more closely involved in the takeover as he appears to be a successful businessman and a Watford fan. I wonder what his take on the goings on is?

Yes - something up for sure - that said he was part of the Board that reccomended the offer not be accepted because of the difference in value of the shares whilst accepting that it was wise to take 1p in the £ as the shares would become worthless anyway (which has happened).

I took a quick look at the offer document and this is part of it:

'Following the Offer becoming or being declared wholly unconditional, Julian Winter and David Fransen have agreed to step down from the Board of Watford Leisure. They will remain on the board of the Club. Graham Taylor will remain as Chairman of the Company and Stuart Timperley as a non-executive director of the Company.'

Obviously the offer became unconditional the other week - Maybe he didn't want to remain after that?
