Rangers are hoping to sign Spanish midfielder Juan Manuel Ortiz from Almeria shortly. The 29-year-old was in Glasgow for talks yesterday and is expected to complete his move within 24 hours. He will become Ally McCoist's first signing since replacing Walter Smith at the end of last season. Ortiz has been at Almeria for four years. But the former Atletico Madrid youth player quit the Andalusian club when their four-year stint in Spain's top flight came to an end with relegation last season. The player is also known as Juanma.
