Some sense prevailing.
Marcus Decker and Morgan Trowland have had their appeals denied today.

They face nigh on three year sentences each for scaling the Dartford Crossing last year causing untold chaos.

Long overdue IMO.

Disagree completely. Sunak should be the one in prison for crimes against humanity. His actions will, in years to come, cause millions of deaths and billions of pounds worth of damage. Pretty much every expert on the subject agrees.

If the tories weren't willing to sell the lives of future generations to keep billionaire oil companies happy, JSO wouldn't be doing what they're doing.

Can you name any of these "experts"?

We'll not fix anything by reverting to the Stone Age while the rest of the world carries on polluting. The oil and gas isn't coming out of the ground for a laugh, we still need it and are we're going to need it for decades to come. It's the doing little to nothing to replace it that's the problem.

Inventing the technology to reverse it is the only solution.

1% is our contribution to CO2 emissions. Once the Americans, China and India stop polluting on the scale that they do combined, 90%, perhaps our meagre contribution may make a difference.

This isn't really relevant though as it will be years before the licenses now being granted actually result in any energy generation and, even then, the majority of it will be sold off overseas to the highest bidder. Meanwhile, green energy solutions can provide the same amount of energy in less time, at less cost, and whilst being significantly more environmentally friendly.

There are two reasons for these licences:

1. oil and gas companies have donated millions to the conservative party over the years.
2. Rishi Sunak's wife has a massive stake in Infosys, a company with which Shell, BP, etc all have multi billion pounds contracts.

The conservatives and Rishi's immediate family get richer, the rest of us get poorer. And if it contributes a bit to the eventual destruction of our planet as we know it, who cares eh? As long as the politicians are profiting.

This just popped up on my timeline and I thought it would fit in this thread well. It's a quick and easy video summary of why Sunak is talking bollocks.

Never ever, ever believe a Tory.
If one said, I’ve made a fortune trousering dodgy money, I would believe him.

You do realise we still need hydrocarbons for things other than use as a fuel?

What's more, there is no way that anything we do now is going to help us meet the electricity demand for charging electric cars. Was just reading this morning about service stations not being able to hook up charging stations because of lack of distribution capacity within the national grid, with one set of services having to install diesel generators to power their charger stations!

Unless the US, Russia & China have a massive swing toward green energy then anything we do in Europe will just be pissin in the wind.
