Anyone know anything about this geezer said to be signing today.
Have seen Charlton fans on Twitter raving about him.
But looking at his record he's a big striker who hasn't done much except at Kilmarnock where he's scored 18 goals in 78 games .
Time will tell and at least he's a signing not sure I'd be goin ape like he's the second coming of Memdonca tho .

Sounds like a lump of ****. If slade somehow managed to get us up, we will have to sign a substantial amount of players for the fourth summer in a row. Somehow I don't see that being a problem for slade.

Big strong good in the air. I've only seen clips of him in Kilmarnock games, haven't actually been to see Killie for about 8 years. I suppose this clears the way for Lookman's exit, otherwise we wouldn't have raised our bid from 100 000 to 275000.

A lot of charlton fans get excited at the prospect of a signing. That's not meant as a criticism, but last summer serves as a warning

He has scored 18 goals in 78 games for a poor side in a very poor league - one of the worst in Europe.

The fee will only end up being £275,000 if he scores the winning goal for us in the Champions League final and marries Katie Perry on the
    pitch at half time.

(Colin is suggesting that signing JM will enable Novak to play in midfield <laugh><laugh><laugh>)

The priority should be 1/2 creative midfielders and some pace out wide - not Simon McMakienok.

He has a ghastly record in an even more ghastly league. They aren't making it very hard for me to stay away!

His goalscoring stats don't look great, but for some unknown reason I have a sneaky suspicion he'll do well for us. From what I've seen of him he'll make a good foil for Ajose.

He's a lump who puts it about and works really hard. Unlike Cackiniok he's prettly mobile and good in the air.

Can see Novak playing out wide left now.

However, surely some creativity in CM must be a priority. There's more life in a f*****g tramps vest than there is in our CM.

Please God, do not let Novak drop in to the middle. No way does he have the pace or technique to play that role.

Does anyone else get the feeling that we only signed two players as we lost our first two matches?

Maybe I'm being cynical, but I'm starting to think of we won both, they wouldn't have brought them in, like with other seasons when we happened to start off well.

Have to say I am really impressed with Magennis so far.

For the first time since Yann, we actually have a proper physical presence up front. Big Josh puts wasters like Makienok to shame with his workrate and the way he jumps for the ball. I don't think he will score 15 this season, but he is light years ahead of Vaz Te and Tucadean etc.

Josh Magennis abused (criticized) on Twitter shock:

    https://www.kentlive.news/sport/foo...ocial-media-charlton-athletic-striker-1231654

Scores 1 goal in 24 appearances and thinks people should not say bad things about him online.

And can anybody elaborate on the "sterling job" Magennis apparently did for the team while he was not scoring goals?
Does he have a dozen assists to his name? Not last time I checked.

Tried to jump ship in the summer, I reckon his recent form is more down to his agent telling him during Jan there were no buyers.

I’m sure he would have liked to have gone to Bolton in January. In truth he has been poor for much of the season.

But there were buyers for him in January. Bolton bid 500000 for him.

Agent talk IMO. Had they bid 500k he would have gone, clubs were looking to pay less in the summer.

That and Bolton haven't paid for a player in years.

Fair enough, I can understand Magennis is disappointed that he isn't going to the World Cup Finals.
But all this Twitter nonsense is tiresome to say the least.

His job is to score goals.
Now he is doing that again, great.
But 8 from 30 starts in the third division is not going to get a striker noticed as something special.
One online news report a couple of days ago headlined JM as Charlton's 'Goal Machine'.
That's lower league journalism for you I suppose.

Everyone knows he isn’t a lone striker, doesn’t have a chance to have a rest etc. The fact of the matter is, he couldn’t finish a meal, let alone the several chances he has every game.

The Bolton natives are getting restless with Josh.

Lyle Taylor is a massive upgrade to be honest. 100% trier though Magennis undoubtedly is, playing in the Championship was always likely to be a step too far ...
