Had a very good start to his career and with a lot of young talented players was built up to be better than they are. He was probably over achieving and was in fact a 'good prospect' rather than a a 'good player' He lacked consistency early on and has never hit those early highs since. There is still a good player in there but I reckon he has been stagnating with us and hasn't progressed at all or very little. Whether that is a case of attitude issues or whether it just isn't working he needs to get away for a bit and I think he needed to have spent a year on loan somewhere to get some game time and help his development. PJ didn't think he was good enough and it appears MM doesn't so there is certainly a trend appearing. I'm hoping he is a slow burner and that he will come good at some point in the next couple of years
Great talent, terrible attitude. The problem was he bounced on the scene toward the end of the season a couple of years ago and then put a tonne of weight on and didn't train all summer, so he went back after the break and his chance had gone. Since then he hasn't really had a look in, I'm not sure why, but it's down to poor management.
He has been getting plenty of chances in the U21s and more recently the Premier Cup but just doesn't seem to make any impact. The difference between him and Hyam is Hyam got his head down and worked hard, grabbing any chances he got with both hands. Carson just seemed to fizzle away into the background without much fuss.
He seems to make no impact on a game whatsoever, shows some hustle and bustle , but sadly no end product. To me he seems to be the epitamy of many a modern footballer, sign on for a professional club, play a few games, perhaps score a few goals, chase out a nice car, and for some strange reason, you think you have made it, have got sad news for you, your deluding yourself, if you want to shout about yourself, you have got to reach a high consistent level for the first team, for a reasonably long time. The incident where he came back overweight after the summer break, was nothing short of a disgrace, and shows what he is, a pathetic competitior.
It appears that everyone's suggestion has been granted http://www.twtd.co.uk/ipswich-town-news/22640/carson-joins-york Josh Carson joining league 2 York city on a months loan. Good move and hopefully he can get some game time under his belt and come back to us a better, fitter & stronger player
I don't know. I haven't seen him play since he burst onto the scene. I think if you're going to a League 2 club on loan it's probably time to pack your bags.
We loaned Jordan Rhodes out to Oxford, Rochdale and Brentford (all League 2 clubs) whilst he was with us and getting him to pack his bags has been a decision that has mystified and angered a lot of people so I think Josh deserves atleast another crack of the whip. Hopefully we'll be able to have a better idea about in the coming pre season after he's had a decent run of games.
Hopefully the lad will get some games and it'll give him a new drive to succeed at Ipswich. From the games he played a couple of years ago he looked a very good player, probably the best winger I've seen produced at this club, but for whatever reason he hasn't done the business as he hasn't been in the team. I don't know what he's like now because I haven't seen him play in years so I have no idea!! It'll be a big shame if he doesn't make it and sometimes although perhaps our youngsters haven't been deemed good enough the past few years, actually they probably would've done better had we kept and played them. Richards and Westlake were part of the Royle promotion chasing team and IMO neither had the talent of Carson!!
Like all young players who hit the first team and then go off the boil a loan to a lower league club, with less attractive facilities, can be what is needed to show them what they would be missing if they don't step up. For me, any young player who is not in and around the first team set up should go out on loan at some point.
Just think he is not good enough for the Championship, whether he will make his mark in league two, is questionable as well, as far as I'm concerned, even if he had a better attitude. Seem to remember we have had this discussion in the past with J'aime Peters, he went out on loan with lower league clubs, and did not even play regularly with them, think he went back to Canada, and could not find a club there that wanted him. You just have to accept that in football, the failure rate for playing on a regular basis, in the top two divisions is very high, some do not even make the lower divisions. Our club, as well as all the others has a high number of players who play in non league football, or else move on to other jobs.
" Seem to remember we have had this discussion in the past with J'aime Peters, he went out on loan with lower league clubs, and did not even play regularly with them, think he went back to Canada, and could not find a club there that wanted him. " The only difference here is Jaime Peters was cack and had no attributes needed to make it. I read earlier Carson has scored 5 in 18 starts, which for the age is fantastic. He has the ability, however I don't believe he has the mentality. Big few months / summer coming or it really is time for him to go elsewhere. See how you do on loan at York....
